What is a coercer? Asuming you mean cursor.

You might simply try a reboot. A nofunctioning pointer may be a symptom of a crummy program on your system failing to release itself (called a memory leak), or purposely interfereing with ramm usage. If it won't even let you do a normal shutdown, this is the cause. If it won't shutdown, pull your ac and your battery and wait about 30 secs. This is a pretty common symptom of people who use alot of shareware (cheap or free software), people who use VOIP software, or people who use PUBLIC P2P programs. Private P2P is relatively safe, but public P2p is just plain stupid.

If you mean your touchpad is not working, it may be just a driver issue. Try shutdown and come up in "safe mode with networking", then reinstall your touch pad driver. It might be called "synaptics" which is the most common maker.

right click my computer. choose properties

open device manager. find mice and other pointing devices. find your touchpad. right click, click update

If your computer is still responding to keyboard commands, but the cursor won't move, then there is most likely a button on your laptop that disables the touchpad. You probably accidentally pressed this. Look for a button on your laptop near the touchpad and try pressing it and see if your cursor can move.
