how do I remove partitions?

I recently had XP pro installed in a home system but the guy set up a partition that effectively split my hard drive in half so I only have 30 gigabytes in each segment

Here's directions for removing a partition from a hard drive on an XP operating system. Just be sure to back up the data on the partition that will be deleted so it can be installed on the saved partition later. Hope this information helps. Good luck!

    1) Back up all important data files from your hard drive to external media like a DVD burner or USB memory stick or something

    2) Download/burn/boot a linux live cd like ubuntu or puppy linux or something. Boot that, then run a partition program like gparted to remove the extra partition. After you do that, use the same program/gparted to increase the size of the other partition (the one that contains windows) to fill the whole hard drive. There's a small chance you could lose everything on the hard drive, which is why you back up first (step one)
