'Who' makes more sense in this scripture? Jesus or the antichrist?

Daniel 9:27, "He will confirm a covenant with many for one seven. In the middle of the seven, He will put an end to the 'sacrifice offering'...? According to the Word, Jesus is the only One who ended the practice of sacrifice, by becoming the 'Final and complete' sacrifice for all. And as far as the 3 1/2 years are concerned, that was the fulfillment of His time of ministry at age 33 1/2 He was crucified. There is no other place in scripture that supports the activity of sacrificing starting up again. So, how can that be the antichrist? Furthermore, if that's supposed to be the 'tribulation period', how can it be referring to both periods of time?

Update:

My question was intended to be thought provoking. The answer is: That it could only be speaking of Jesus within the Biblical period of history that He physically lived upon the earth. The 7 yr. tribulation theory was concocted in the 1830's, by a man named John Darby,(that was based on a vision that was had by a 15 year old scottish girl named Margaret Mc Donald), who spread the deception of the 'dispensational timeline, with the '7 year tribulation at the center of it. It was then carried on by 'Scofield', who wrote the reference Bible in 1909 including this 'concept'. Which found it's way into the early american churches. Don't take my word for it, do your own homework if ya' don't believe me.

The anti-Christ will imitate Jesus, and practice sacrifices etc.

There is such a thing as pre-trib; trib, and post trib.

Assuming you have given your life over to Christ and acknowledge him as your Lord, why not take advantage of your relationship and ask him directly, or ask your pastor.

It is the Antichrist spoken of in Daniel 9:26b, 27. To understand what is going on here you need to know about dispensations. We are now living in a gap while Christ builds His Church but after the rapture God will turn back to the Jews. During the Tribulation period the Jews will once again rebuild the Temple and have sacrifices.

Rev. 11:1, 2 Then I was given a reed like a measuring rod. And the angel stood, saying, “RISE AND MEASURE THE TEMPLE OF GOD, the altar, and those who worship there. 2 “But leave out the court which is outside the temple, and do no measure it, for it has been given to the Gentiles. And they will tread the holy city underfoot for forty-two months.

“Rise and measure the temple of God” - A future temple will be built in Jerusalem. Dan. 9:27 alluded to it – the Antichrist will end sacrifice and offering in the middle of the Tribulation. In Matt. 24:15 Jesus spoke of the Antichrist desecrating the Temple. Also, II Thess. 2:1-4 deals with the Antichrist claiming himself to be God there. All of these references (as well as here) are referring to the Temple to used in the Tribulation.

“And as far as the 3 1/2 years are concerned, that was the fulfillment of His time of ministry at age 33 1/2 He was crucified.”

Dan. 9:26, 27 And after the sixty-two weeks (4/30/33 A.D.) Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself; (now starts concerning the Antichrist) And the people of the prince (Antichrist) who is to come Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end of it shall be with a flood, And till the end of the war desolations are determined. 27 Then he (Antichrist) shall confirm a covenant with many for one week (7 years); But in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, Even until the consummation, which is determined, Is poured out on the desolate.”

Half of 7 is 3 ½ and has nothing to do with Jesus’ earthly ministry it speaks of the 7 year treaty that the Antichrist breaks in the middle (3 ½ years). There is just too much to try to explain to you for a better understanding and not enough time right now to do it. I would be happy to take the time with you on a one on one basis if you like … just email me.

  • I really don't know what "the antichrist" has to do with your question. An antichrist is any person who denies Jesus, it is not some super evil villain that is going to march Satan's armies across the face of the earth... regular men do a good job of that already.

1 John 2:18 Children, it is the last hour, and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come. Therefore we know that it is the last hour.

    1 John 2:22

Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son.

    1 John 4:3

and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already.

    2 John 1:7

For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not confess the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh. Such a one is the deceiver and the antichrist.

Daniel's seventy weeks prophecy is about the coming of Christ.

This is the final "seven" of the seventy sevens of Daniel.

This seven takes place after Jesus is gone (He is gone now), and Jesus will return at the "end" of this last seven.

    So.....it can not be Jesus.

Back up to v. 25- ".. the Anointed One (Jesus) will be cut off after the 62 sevens (+7 sevens=69). That has happened. We are now in what some call the "church age" or "great parenthesis". This time will continue until the final seven begins and the anti-Christ is revealed.

This is a tough study. I recommend John Walvoords book "End Times".

will Messiah do another personal 3 1/2 year ministry in order to finish the 7 years confirming the covenant when He returns or will He use the 2 prophets of revelation 11 as His instruments to accomplish this ?

perhaps when He returns it will take 3 1/2 years to gather up the human survivors of the hebrews scattered around the world and have them returned to their ancestral homeland ?

Just to clarify where does it say in Daniel 9: 27 that it is a prophecy of the Antichrist.

If it doesn't then wouldn't make more sense if this was a prophecy of jesus?
