Adolescent Section: How would you feel if...?
How would you feel if Y!A got rid of the thumbs up and down option? Do you think Y!A would be more friendly?
I think it would be a lot less tense and more civil because no one feels like crap because they have 19 TDs because of their opinion on something like abortion or gay marriage.

Yeah. Especially the TD's, it's just a dumb way for people to put down people or opinions they don't like, as if that were going to make them disappear. It's a pretty abused. I would say thumbs up too, I see the most stupid and offensive crap being thumbed up. So does that mean it's right?

I like the thumbs up and down. I honestly don't think people take it to heart if they have 19 thumbs down. It's a freaking website. Every time I see someone gave me a thumbs down, I don't automatically think that the person who did that was thinking, "Lauren, I hate you and I hate your opinions. Therefore take this thumbs down and feel like crap." And honestly, I don't feel like crap. On the other hand, I do smile whenever I see that I got a thumbs up. It makes me feel better about myself.

I like the thumbs down and up because I like seeing that people found my comment funny / agreeable. The people that flip-out over it, need some time away from Y!A, and should do something.. less stressful? Lol. The ones that do flip out about it make everything exciting though.. people's reactions ftw.

No...I enjoy answering a question with my amazing wit and getting 11 thumbs ups.
And if a lot of people thumb me down on my opinions on controversial issues? Well, it's a controversial issue. People are going to disagree. If you don't like that, don't answer those questions.

I rarely use the TD/TU option anyway, and I don't care how many I get on my answers. If people don't like my opinions, that's their problem - not mine. A few TD's won't make me change the way I think.
So all in all, it wouldn't matter to me anyway.

People don't use them properly.
People thumb someone down because they don't agree with them. That's not what you're meant to do. If it's a bad answer, like "2pts" or "ajkndkafhlh" then yeah, thumb it down. Don't thumb it down because you don't believe that everybody is equal and they do.
I would kinda be relieved, but I would miss them. I want them to stay.
I think it shows a lot about man kind and how petty we can be.

people have their opinions, i'm fine with getting thumbs down, because they are just stating their opinion. so, i don't care. i like them. :D it would be boring without them i think..

Well, I like giving thumbs ups to people. And I like seeing how many some people can get. It's interesting. Haha.
I think it would be nice if they told us who gave us thumbs ups and thumb downs.
I would be able to see who was hatin' on me.
:P
