  • Can we at least agree that health care DOES need to be fixed in this country?

Ignore Obamacare for one second. Pretend it was never passed.

Think about what health care is like in the country (or was, before Obamacare started coming into effect). Would it need to be reformed? If so, what would you do to fix it?

  • Had McCain not picked Palin for his running mate in '08, would he have won?

I didn't pay too much attention to the election in 2008, but I've always wondered, how many Republicans voted for Obama/Biden just so McCain/Palin didn't win in 2008. Had he chosen someone more... well, competent, would he have beaten out Obama?

  • Good laptops for college students?

    Hey all.

I'm already the owner of an HP laptop, and I love it, but the screen keeps spazzing out on me and I don't feel comfortable saving important school docs on it anymore. So I am in the market for a new one.

    Here's what I need:

    $600.00 or less

    Lots of memory 1GB+

Good battery life (for in-class use)

Doesn't heat up too quickly (after 20 minutes)

    Quiet fan

I'm good with Dell, HP, Sony or Toshiba. I CANNOT and WILL NOT buy an iPad, Mac or Compaq product.

Help me out? I've gone to CNET, but it seems like they're far up Apple's *** and hate everything else.

  • Good Laptops for College Students?

I already have a laptop that I lug back and forth to college, but there are some major issues with it that I can't ignore.

    1) The batter only lasts for an hour and a half. I can't use it during class (even though the professor allows us to), and that's really where I want to keep my notes for the class.

    2) It heats up really quickly, and sometimes it overheats and shuts down when I'm working, and I already have a cooler for it, and it isn't working.

Things to keep in mind, I'm a budding writer and photographer, so I need a lot of room for files and photos.

So can someone point me in the direction of a laptop that has a lot of memory, is easily transportable, and doesn't heat up within ten minutes of turning it on?

Oh, and I don't think I can afford a Mac.

  • Oh crap... keyboard issue, please help!?

Right. So, yesterday I was a complete idiot and was trying to open a ranch dressing packet right in front of my laptop. It, because of my luck, splattered ALL OVER my computer. When I got home, I thought I got it all off, but I went to type in a password for my college class, and my 1 key is sticking REALLY bad. How can I get it working again?

  • MSN: I'm appearing offline to my friends?

I've tried my phone, the WL website, and the actual messenger, but all say that I'm offline. I checked my settings, and the settings are set to Appear Online. I uninstalled and re-installed it, and that didn't work.

    What else can I do?

  • Need some major help with algebra?

I have two problems that keep tripping me up with my math homework. Can someone please help me?

    The first problem is:

Station A is 128 miles east of Station B. A train leaves station A headed due west at 60 miles per hour. At the same time, another train leaves station B and travels due east a 68 miles per hour. How long until they pass each other?

    The second is:

I mixed nuts that are worth $2/lb with a bag of trail mix worth $0.80/lb. The resulting mix is worth $1.20/lb. If I have 10 pounds of the final mix, how much of each ingredient did I add?

    Please please help me. :-/

  • Beginning college tomorrow, terrified. HELP?

Okay, I'm starting college tomorrow. It isn't a big university, just a small community college, and it's near my house, so I'm living at home.

Thing is, I'm not very outgoing. It took me until junior year to break out of my shell and really talk to people I didn't know. I'm terrified that I'm going to revert back to that shy, meek girl I was in high school. What can I do to make myself more comfortable with the fact that I'm in college, meeting new people?

  • What could this be? Help please!?

    Hi,

For the past two weeks I've had these symptoms.

    -Sneezy/runny nose/congestion

    -Coughing

    -Itchy eyes

    -Extreme exhaustion

    -Lymph Node/Throat pain/ear ache

I understand that I had a cold, but why is my lymph node acting up? (The one below my jaw on the left side)

Oh, and how can I stop the pain before I go to the doctor? I can barley swallow. :(

  • Nervous about prom... help?

Hey all. I needed a date to prom, and I asked a guy friend of mine I've known since I was in third grade. I asked him as a friend, but now I feel like I like him a lot, and now I can't stop thinking about it turning into something else. I've never been in a situation like this, and I'm feeling really confused and scared.

    What should I do?

  • Adolescent Section: How would you feel if...?

How would you feel if Y!A got rid of the thumbs up and down option? Do you think Y!A would be more friendly?

I think it would be a lot less tense and more civil because no one feels like crap because they have 19 TDs because of their opinion on something like abortion or gay marriage.

  • Should I try and dance tomorrow or just stay home?

    Hey all,

I'm getting over a stomach virus (vomited twice yesterday morning, diarrhea, gas, stomach gurgles), and I had a fever today.

I stayed home from school today, and I'm missing my band banquet tonight. Tomorrow is my school's talent show, and I'm dancing in it (we have big drama group dances).

Also, I have next Monday and Tuesday off.

    What should I do?

  • Teens/Parents: How would you feel if your/ your child's school did this?

Instead of semesters or block schedules, my school does something called trimesters (kind of like pregnancy :P).

Here's some information on it: http://www.trimesters.org/

How would you feel if your school did that instead of what they currently do?

I personally love trimesters. It allows me to take classes I wouldn't be able to take because of band being a full year class.

Why does it seem that whenever someone is reading a Harry Potter book, they are labeled as a geek or nerd who has no social life at all, but when they are reading Twilight, no one gives them a second glance?

What should I do to them to keep it simple?

  • How can my dad and I help my mom quit smoking?

My dad quit smoking when I was 4. He just... stopped. My mom still smokes. My aunts and my cousin have all stopped recently. My grandma asks me every time I see her "When are you going to get her to quit smoking?"

I've tried to tell her about lung cancer, tar, etc... but she won't listen to it. She says that she knows about all of that. I just don't know what to do anymore. Neither does my dad. Help? I don't want to lose her at a young age...

  • Do I have a right to be angry about this?

My band director chooses section leaders for the next year. I am the only soon to be senior left (the other one is drum major). The freshman who came up this year went out against me, and she won out.

He told me that the ONLY REASON he chose her over me was because her application was more thorough, but I could still be section leader because I have all the qualities.

Hello? I am a JUNIOR. I have more experience when it comes to marching band, and yet he chose a freshman because she wrote more words on a piece of paper than me? How unfair is that? Am I being immature about this, or do I have a legitimate right to be angry?

If you were a teacher, wouldn't you want the student with the MOST EXPERIENCE leading the team?
