Good laptops for college students?

Hey all.

I'm already the owner of an HP laptop, and I love it, but the screen keeps spazzing out on me and I don't feel comfortable saving important school docs on it anymore. So I am in the market for a new one.

Here's what I need:

$600.00 or less

Lots of memory 1GB+

Good battery life (for in-class use)

Doesn't heat up too quickly (after 20 minutes)

Quiet fan

I'm good with Dell, HP, Sony or Toshiba. I CANNOT and WILL NOT buy an iPad, Mac or Compaq product.

Help me out? I've gone to CNET, but it seems like they're far up Apple's *** and hate everything else.

First of all mac osx runs on a UNIX platform meaning it will NEVER get viruses thus is much more stable than windows as a whole, and none of ur files could get damaged....

In windows u pretty much will get viruses which can steal ur school files, corrupt them, destroy ur entire partition (basically wiping off windows itself)....Now dont be a narrow minded as and do some research you idiot.

    Or install linux,

Compaq went out of business years ago, The ones you see now are actually HP products.

Really, whatever is on sale at Best Buy will do. Just make sure you have Windows 7 Professional and not the Home Edition so you have XP compatibility.

Dell are good, and make sure it runs on the windows operating system, because thats probably what OS system your college will use and so itll be easier for transfering files etc and anything you might need to do between college and your own lap top

Any cutting-area day computing device you should purchase will be adequate for school use. you are able to both flow extreme priced and get one which would want to nicely be more desirable exciting (after college) or you are able to flow less expensive and get one strictly for school. guarantee that you do ask questions about the battery/life span earlier procuring a computing device, if I were you, i might want to get one with a battery of four hours+. One very last tip earlier you flow off procuring, i might want to examine expenses on-line first and look at them with computing device shops jointly with BestBuy. BestBuy has a tendency to over income on their electronics and that i might want to point checking expenses earlier paying for.
