Travel to Yellow Stone NP, in Sept?

Wife and I plan on going to Yellow Stone National Park in Sept of this year. We will fly out of Pittsburgh, Pa and not sure of where our best landing destination should be. Also, do any of you have a preference in accommodations? What other activities would you do, beside watch a geyser? Should we plan on a side trip to Grand Teton? Guess I should have said, we will be on vacation for 10 days. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

There are four cities/airports near Yellowstone National Park. Logan International Airport in Billings, MT is approximately 3 hours/180 miles from the North Entrance of the park. Gallatin Field Airport in Bozeman, MT is approximately 1.5 hours/88 miles from North Entrance of the park.

Located at the base of the Teton Mountains is the Jackson Hole Airport, Jackson, WY, which is approximately 1 hour/50 miles from the South Entrance of the Park. Yellowstone Regional Airport in Cody, WY is approximately 1 hour/55 miles from the East Entrance of the park. West Yellowstone Airport in West Yellowstone, MT offers seasonal air service and is approximately seven miles from the West Entrance of the park.

Good for both Grand Teton and Yellowstone national parks.

*Jackson Hole Airport, Jackson, WY would be my choice. You could make Jackson your base and travel to the many attractions in both Teton and Yellowstone. "Best Western The Lodge at Jackson Hole" would be a great place to stay.

beautiful place, my question is: have you checked the weather for September? If I remember right, it is almost Winter there and depending on the elevation, some parts of the area are closed.

    Hope you have fun.
