Assitance in defragging the plot of the movie ' The Time Travellers Wife'?

Question

I rented it from Suddenlink and altho I have it 2 days I'd rather not have to watch the whole thing to defrag my mind (I had the same problem with Terminator and the movie with Dennis Quaid and Jim Cavizel? Those mind boggling movies you need a translator in the room with you)  So, anyone understand the story please inform me of the following: Their daughter appears at age ? 11?  Was she born or did she time travel out of the womb?? Is she the one that actually was born?  Next: did the time traveller (I can't remember names-have nominal aphasia) die and then reappear later thru time travelling? Why can't he just stay that age and keep coming back???

1. well she appears as 10 year old girl alba.
 2. no she was not born yet when she first appears. 
3. its the same girl that was born. for some reason she could control this time travelling thing unlike her father who has no control over it..
 4. the guy dies ,when alba is five years of age. he appears again 4 yrs later. by then alba is 9yr old.
 5. he does not reveal that he wud appear again to rachel mcadams bcos he doesnt want her waiting for him to appear all her life.

ok i read the book so hear goes...the daughter was born like any other child but she got the time traveling gene so she can do what the father does...i cant remember his name either
the husband died but his previous ages of him can time travel to the future and see his family. in the book he got frost bite very bad and lost his feet, then he got shot and died on the front porch....so after he died his younger self can go to the future and the daughter can do the same....sorry its very confusing
