Does this sound like a fair deal to you?
I keep hearing some Americans here crying about how Canada ignores their hockey and how we think we're so superior. I must admit they have a point. However, I'll make a point of my own that's been true for decades that the Americans didn't consider. Do you remember how disgraceful most Americans were in their treatment of the US Canadian football teams when the CFL tried US expansion? (With apologies to Baltimore who truly embraced their team and showed so much class, much respect to Baltimore.) So many Americans were disgusting in their active ignorance and desire for those teams to fail even to the point of immediately putting an NFL team in Baltimore when they saw how successful that team was just to get the CFL team out of there. Not to mention that some Americans think that the CFL is of such poor quality that a division-1 NCAA team could defeat a pro CFL team(1). Most of the Americans have always thought of Canadian football as a joke as only 1 city out of 5 actually supported their team. That means 80% of Americans completely ignored or dissed Canadian football(2). And yet, they cry about us...
In spite of such childish behaviour ON BOTH SIDES, let's be friends and make a deal.
If Americans want Canada to appreciate American hockey and not be constantly putting it down and disrespecting it, then the USA has to show the same courtesy to Canadian football. Sound fair to you? I encourage people who are not Canadian or American to please answer as well because those answers will be objective. Any information you need will be available at the included link. Thank you. :-)
All I see so far is Americans making excuses for how their ignorance and arrogance is ok, but not Canada's.
So Erica, what you're saying is... it's not a fair deal? *sighs!* Try to make peace with some people and what do they do... "OH NO! We're not going to stop putting you down, we just want you to stop putting us down!"
It's not going to happen.

I am Canadian and I am a huge CFL fan, but I, as well as most Canadians, really don't care if Americans support the CFL. There will (hopefully) never be a CFL team in America again, they have their own type of football and each country supports their league and I hope that is how it stays. As for hockey, I would say that Canadians don't hate the American players, but the situation hockey is in in the States. It is a minority sport there; the only games broadcast on network TV are Sunday afternoon games on NBC, which get lower ratings than almost anything they could show. In Canada hockey is a religion, and we feel stiffed because there are so many failing teams in the States, and no Canadian team has won the Stanley Cup since 1993. Teams like Phoenix that left Winnipeg and are now losing more and more money every year make Canadians go crazy with anger. There are teams in places like Atlanta, Florida, Carolina, while there are no teams in cities like Winnipeg, Hamilton, Quebec. Since the lockout in the NHL, every Canadian team except for Ottawa has sold out every game for years. In places like Phoenix they struggle to get 10,000 fans a game.

I guess I could type up a long, thoughtful answer about how comparing the skills and styles of the Olympic hockey teams of different countries to the skills and following of the professional football leagues (whose players are not from JUST their respective countries) of different countries is comparing APPLES to ORANGES.
Or I could just sum everything up with:
WHO CARES?
Honestly, it doesn't take STATISTICS or LINKS or ENDLESS DEBATE.
All you have to do is IGNORE the Americans, Canadians, and whoever else is talking bad about one another, because they are just the bad apples from their respective tree. Sorry to continue with a metaphor, but all the trees have those bad apples. Believe me, ignoring them works. The world keeps on turning, and most importantly of all, the Olympic hockey games still happen. People will ALWAYS make generalizations and discriminate. That doesn't just apply to hockey, the Olympics, and the countries of the world; it applies to life.
ADD: I'm not saying Americans should keep putting Canadians down and I'm not making excuses for the Americans doing it.
WHAT I'M SAYING IS... There is no need to make a deal. I haven't been putting the Canadians down. There are other Americans putting Canadians down. There are also Canadians putting Americans down. There will always be people doing it from both sides, NO MATTER WHAT DEAL YOU TRY TO MAKE.
So your question is pointless. The mature thing to do is to just ignore the people putting each other down. It's really that easy.

1) I don't care what Canadians think about American hockey...While half of the NHL is Canadians, almost a quarter of the league is Americans. We are catching up at break neck speeds...
2) The CFL is a joke...It is all of the garbage that can't make the NFL, although every once in a while a few players from the CFL make it to the big show...

This is not about disrespecting the States, or underestimating... or any of that. The fans will talk and talk about all of this all they want. Us fans from the US can say we are being underestimated, or Canada thinks too highly of their hockey. Canadians can think they're unbeatable and think not only the US is behind them, but the whole world is.
That's what it's all about... Canada seen as an unbeatable powerhouse. It is also about the two sides being rivals... so of course there will be disrespect.
Personally, I don't give a damn what the rest of the world thinks about our hockey team. This is just a relationship between the American people and the American Hockey team. If Canadians want to disrespect it, so be it. We'll always defend it. There is just always one thing on our mind : Be the best.
There is a difference by the way with the Football. If you want to play football, at it's highest competitive level... you go to the NFL. You can't exactly say, if you want to go play hockey at it's highest competitive level... you go to Canada. You say, you go to North America/NHL.

No. All the best players in the world play in the NFL. The NFL is much superior to the CFL. I could see why Americans weren't happy with the expansion. They already had a football league so why would they need another 2nd class league? The NHL is the top league in the world in terms of hockey. If you want to succeed you go and play in the NHL. If your comparing the NHL to the NFL then its pretty much the same thing. Best football players go and play in the NFL while the best hockey players go and play in the NHL. The 2nd best leagues in hockey can somewhat compare to the NHL such as the KHL. But the CFL can't compare to NCAA 1. I would put my money on a NCAA team if they played the CFL. I'm sorry if you disagree with this but this is how I see the CFL. I think of it as a joke.

appears like a honest deal, yet be weary of that e-bay transaction as there is not any possible way it quite is going to value $60 to deliver clothing. EVER... in spite of if it quite is chain-mail. So try finding the comparable dress from a diverse broker. Your mom would be extra keen to get it for then you.
