What do American fans think about the reffing situation for tomorrow afternoons gold medal game?

In case you haven't heard, tomorrow's game between Canada and the U.S.A.

The following Refs will ref the match:

Referees: Bill McCreary (CAN), Dan O’Halloran (CAN).

Linesmen: Stefan Fonselius (FIN), Jean Morin (CAN).

Considering it's 3 Canadian refs reffing a U.S.A. Canada game. Than you got a finnish ref in there aswell that does not go too well for the u.s. tomorrow. Seeing as the Americans blew out the Finns yesterday.

I don't believe in reffing conspiracies though.

What do you think?

These are among the best referees in the world. They are professionals, and there is no reason to believe that there will be any preference given. These guys work every day of the year to be impartial referees.

It's different n Women's hockey, where inexperience s a major problem. Does anyone remember the Canada-US game in Salt Lake, where the US ref gave something like 8 consecutive penalties to Canada? THAT was a problem (and IIRC the referee was later sanctioned)

Therer are no worries about the group of refs handling tomorrow's game. It'll be a clean, hard game.

Doesn't matter 3 of the 4 officials are NHL with the two refs primary referees for the NHL and very well respected by NHL players. This isn't an issue.

I think it's time the US started to develop some refs who are competent at the highest levels. These are the best refs in the world, they are professionals who have worked at this level before without incident. The refereeing will be fine.

Were there people selected in advance before the tournament started? If they were then the entire slate of hockey teams have had plenty of opportunity to protest this.

I don't know anything about the professional European hockey leagues and their referees. Perhaps the quality in Europe isn't up to par with North America?

Well, unless Ohno joined the US hockey team, it shouldn't make a difference at all.

I'm not a fan of it of course. Like what my coach said in basketball when we got a biased reff, be careful and play smart so they can't call anything unreasonable.

The USA will at least have somebody to blame when they loose.

Source(s): Past events just my opinion.
  • me neither. People should just focus on the game , instead of all this drama.
