I do not believe its a waste of time for him to call him. He must've known the public would find out and hoped they would think better of him for it. He needs it now that his approval rating is under 50%.

I do not approve of Obama in the least(quite the opposite) but I can see his logic in calling him. Now that so many people disagree with him(including me) it would be ignorant of him not to take advantage of this oportunity.
