A narcissist is someone that constantly acts, or pretends to be someone else, in order to get things for themselves, because they think they are more important than everyone else. Not necessarily material things - It could be attention, boys, girls, friends, boyfriends, girlfriends, anything. Normally, they do it to get power over other people.
They never show their real peronality to anyone, not even their partners. Usually, they are pretty self-conscious, although they are very good at hiding that fact. You generally wouldn't know a narcissist until they had ****** you over, unless you were a psycologist. And they won't always **** you over. A lot of the time, narcissists are very popular because they know how to make people like them.
As for brat, we all know what that means. Spoiled and demanding. Something narcissists only show when they've been rumbled.
I think this person probably meant your friend was selfish, bratty and demanding, and fake.
The irony is that narcissists are incredibly good at deflecting accusations of narcissism. If your friend WAS a narcissist, she would probably have manipulated the situation such that the other girl would never have had the opportunity to say she was one.
It sounds to me as though the other girl is jealous, and perhaps a little selfish herself, so she's projecting narcissism onto your friend rather than simply accept your friend could have something she doesn't.
Or not. I guess the context matters here. Either way, it sounds like somoene is upset.

Narcissistic comes from Narcissism which means being incredibly self absorbed and vain. So no, it's not a complement. It's someone saying to your friend: You are selfishly hung up thinking about yourself to the point that you're a brat.

A self-centered spoilt child who cares only about his/her looks. Definitely bad.
Narcissus was arrogant and cruel, and he hurt people who loved him. He died because he fell in love with his own reflection in a pond -- starved to death (presumably) because he could not bear to leave it. At least, that's one version of the story according to Greek mythology.
A brat is a spoilt child.

narcissistic comes from the greek "narcissus", who in Greek legend was a beautiful youth who fell in love with his own reflection...it is sued to describe someone who is self absorbed..."full of themselves"
"Brat" is not complimentary...surely you know that!
