re-installing windows and keeping steam games the way they are?

I have steam on the data drive, my C drive is all ready to be wiped. all thats left on it is the windows 7 RC. But I will need to reinstall all of my programs, including steam, for them to register with the new OS... so what do I do about letting the new install know where all my games and game saves are?

And yes, I know I'm cutting the new install rather close to its deadline...

Since this move requires a fresh install be sure to back up all of your game files.

Take a look at the link on the right of this page that reads "Get more details about replacing the RC". It will tell you everything you need to know- http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/get/rel...

you need to find the save files for each game, as they are stored in different places. Usually they're in my documents in a folder named after the game, or the producer of the game. sometimes they're in the "my games" folder in my documents. If you cant find the save files for any game, try just google searching the name of the game followed by "save file"

SOME steam games save your progress on steams servers, so you don't have to worry about finding save files, but not many of them.
