  • is it ok to smoke hookah with a bird in the same room?

now I know the answer is probably no, and I know how dangerous it is for cigarette smoke, and I know they pass air through their lungs twice and absorb anything in it extremely efficiently. I also know about coal mine canaries. Please dont feed me facts and figures. I want to know if anyone has a pet bird and has done this, my logic behind thinking it might be ok is the fact that hookah smoke is much less dense and chemical ridden than cigarette smoke.

either way, I'm still strongly leaning towards no

  • would a beer/fennel cheeseburger have a balanced taste?

my two favorite things in meat are fennels and porter, and I was wondering if I could add them both to some cheeseburgers foor a balanced taste, or maybe there are some other spices I could use to balance the two flavors together. that would be the best choice

  • is there like a kelly bluebook for antique records?

I have a giant collection and no idea what any of them are worth, and I think it's time to sell them, but if I just go to a music store without knowing their value they'll probably rip me off.

  • Need advice for bird boarding (conure)?

So a month ago I adopted a baby black capped conure, and now I have this job lined up for after I graduate HVAC school, it's a marine mariner's job which means I'll be gone from home for months at a time, sometimes up to 6 months.

I need advice on how to deal with this, and I am currently considering two options.

option A is giving him away to a loving home, which I dont wanna do

option B is getting a personalized boarder, someone who would be the sole caretaker of the bird every time I go out, so as far as he's concerned he has two loving homes.

  • how much potential alcohol is in 32 ounces of grade A dark amber maple syrup?

I want to know how much alcohol it will add to my vanilla bourbon porter if I add it to the secondary, and since it's not going into the primary, it will be impossible to measure alcohol content with a hydrometer.

  • how many watts does my sound system use?

it's rated at 190 watts, but I generally keep the volume under half, so how many watts does that actually translate to?, in general terms I cant find that info, I'm sure efficiency interferes with a 1-1 ratio, so what are the ratio's at, say, 1/4,1/3, and 1/2?

I'm talking about actual electricity use, so I have something to tell my roommate.

  • what temperature lightbulb should I buy?

I'm about to refit my entire apartment with compact flourescents, and I want to make sure they are the right color.

I want them to be the same color as natural sunlight, which I thought was 6500K, after more research I'm getting conflicting results, some recommending as low as 5000K.

And let's be clear, warm light depresses me, literally puts me in a bad mood, so I'm really leaning towards 6500K, but if that would be too blue then maybe 5000K is a better idea.

bottom line is I want my house to look like I have no roof, natural daylight colors. what temperature should I go for?

  • what if my landlord is breaking NEC codes?

I know, I know, the answer should be obvious, tell him... problem is, this guy is just as liable to evict us as to go ahead and rewire our bedrooms.

He's a private owner, we rent one of six units from him, his main business is an electrician company that I would never do service with, and it seems like he did all his own wiring here on the cheap.

Here's the issue, I just got a window air conditioning unit. The circuit tripped, and when I went to turn it on, I noticed it was on a 15 amp fuse, and on top of that, it was also powering my roomate's room, because everything in his room also went out.

    The state is Virginia...

I want to strike a deal with this guy to get it fixed without him searching for any possible reason to evict us.
