what if my landlord is breaking NEC codes?

I know, I know, the answer should be obvious, tell him... problem is, this guy is just as liable to evict us as to go ahead and rewire our bedrooms.

He's a private owner, we rent one of six units from him, his main business is an electrician company that I would never do service with, and it seems like he did all his own wiring here on the cheap.

Here's the issue, I just got a window air conditioning unit. The circuit tripped, and when I went to turn it on, I noticed it was on a 15 amp fuse, and on top of that, it was also powering my roomate's room, because everything in his room also went out.

The state is Virginia...

I want to strike a deal with this guy to get it fixed without him searching for any possible reason to evict us.
