Need advice for bird boarding (conure)?
So a month ago I adopted a baby black capped conure, and now I have this job lined up for after I graduate HVAC school, it's a marine mariner's job which means I'll be gone from home for months at a time, sometimes up to 6 months.
I need advice on how to deal with this, and I am currently considering two options.
option A is giving him away to a loving home, which I dont wanna do
option B is getting a personalized boarder, someone who would be the sole caretaker of the bird every time I go out, so as far as he's concerned he has two loving homes.
oh I know, he's real ornery right now because he's a baby. One time I told him no bite and all his feather fluffed up and he stuck his head straight up sideways and pooped and bit me harder.
but when he's not doing that I love him, he's usually a very sweet bird

defidently do not get rid of your pet. we have two conures, and they are as good a friend as a dog. there is a great site online called craigslist, and there, you can look through ads other people have put on and submit your own, there are many classifieds, such as jobs, housing, free, parking and storage, antiques, barber, act. anyway they used to have a pets classified, but for some reason they deleted it, so everyone puts their pets ads (animals for sale, sharing an animal, animal collars, fencing, food, ect) in the farm and garden section. it would be a bummer for you to loose your parrot.

The community section of craigslist has the pets section by the way. You can post there looking for someone to board your bird. I would get references though. And make sure you have a contract. I let someone watch my bird one time for a week while I went on vacation. I came back and it was dead. She fed the bird dog food. I was so mad I wanted to shove the dog food down her throat! And I gave her enough bird food for a month. I even gave her a list of exactly what to feed it and when. So just make sure you have plenty of references and a contract for whom ever watches your bird please.
