I have $14, and the pizza costs $13 and some change, I'm gonna order pizza either way, but I'll feel really bad if he doesnt get the $2

Update:

Update 2:

I work for *a national pizza chain* as a delivery driver.

Our store charges two dollars as a delivery fee.

One dollar goes to the store, and supposedly goes to cover franchising, legal, and insurance costs. The other dollar goes to me to cover gas and wear and tear on my car.

I make minimum wage, and just so you have an idea what you're tipping for:

A waiter at a restaurant expects 15-20 percent for decent service provided.

    But.

All a waiter has to do is show up for work. I have to bring myself to work, and I have to bring a car in working order, and I have to bring automobile insurance, and I have to bring a clean driving record.

I run the risk of being robbed every night. The Bureau of Labor Statistics rated pizza delivery driving as the fifth most hazardous profession in the country, and the third most likely to be shot while on the job, behind law enforcement and cab drivers.

I get paid minimum wage. It varies from market to market, but no one is getting rich delivering pizza. If my customers don't tip me, the one-dollar reimbursement per delivery generally covers my gas, but it doesn't cover oil changes, brakes, tires, tune ups, clutches, and all the other wear-and-tear **** that we go through doing that job. If we don't get tipped, we're making less than minimum wage.

Tip your driver 15 percent if the service you received was satisfactory.

Honestly, here's the way I react to tipping.

If I get tipped less than 15 percent, I'm disappointed.

If I get tipped less than 10 percent, I'm annoyed.

If I get tipped less than 5 percent, I'm insulted.

And believe me....your delivery driver WILL remember you if he delivers to you repeatedly and you don't tip him at least ten percent. If all you give him is coins multiple times, he'll remember. And he won't like you.

    Just something to think about.

For one, it's 3.00 for delivery for pizza hut as of 8/8/15.The Pizza Hut closest to me is off Grant/Eldridge. Pizza Hut, just like Papa Johns is a major chain and should not do this. Papa Johns, DOES NOT! I order from Papa Johns/Del Pueblo/Hunan River constantly and neither of the 2 charge a delivery fee. It's not fair to the drivers as that's how they make their $. However, it's not fair to the consumer to get this charge from a major food chain. If it was a mom/pop place, yes. After learning this today...I will NEVER order delivery from Pizza Hut again...the consumer should not have to absorb their liability insurance cost for their drivers. When they determine their pizza costs...it should be factored in, plain and simple. It's not fair to the drivers who expect a normal tip vs saying...I'm not tipping what I norm do when I just got his w/a $3 delivery charge. No thank you!

NO, I work at pizza hut and at our store the delivery charge is $2, soon to be $2.25 and the drivers are only paid $1 per delivery for gas/wear and tear. When they increase the delivery fee they are not increasing the amount they pay us.

No, the $2 probably goes to pay for the gas that he used to drive you your pizza. If it makes you feel bad you can still tip him?
