How does one legally change their last name in the state of California?

I want to change my last name for personal reasons; I live in California. It doesn't have anything to do with trying to be fraudulent or have anything to do with being married- I'm not married. Is there a specific website with forms I have to fill out or do I have to physically go to some department and inquire that way?

Thanks for any suggestions!

Update:

I really don't need an English lesson from some answer on Yahoo. If I was curious as to if I stated my question properly I would have posted it in the correct section.

Wow, this was hard to find : Not! Form NC100 should do the trick.

Because you are a minor your parents would have to petition PROBATE court for a legal name change for you. Otherwise you must wait until you are 18. Call your county probate court and ask about the costs - I'm guessing it's well over $200. Once the legal name change takes place you will be issued a certified copy of the legal name change. You will need to show that document to whomever or whatever needs to see it to change your name on their records.

You have to find a lawyer, pay them big money and go to court to explain why you want it changed and just maybe it will get done.
