Newcastle Knights Chris Houston on drug charges and stood down by club?
http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/nrl/newcast...
NEWCASTLE Knights forward Chris Houston has been stood down indefinitely and could face the sack by the club after being charged today with drug offences.
Less then three months after the arrest of his former Knights teammate Danny Wicks for similar offences, Houston’s was served with a court attendance notice at 10.30 this morning via his legal representative by officers attached to Strike Force Welham.
Houston, who shared a house with Wicks prior to his arrest last December, will appear in Newcastle court on April 13 facing three charges of supplying ecstasy and one charge of supplying cocaine.
Knights spokesman Steve Mount confirmed Houston was immediately stood down after they were made aware of the charges being laid.
Houston, who started his career at St George Illawarra, was 18th man for the third game of the 2009 State of Origin series for NSW.
NSW Police said in a statement that a 25-year-old man will appear in court on April 13 after being charged over the alleged supply of ecstasy and cocaine on the state’s central coast.
"About 10.30am today, officers attached to Strike Force Welham, served court attendance notices on the 25-year-old Kotara man via his legal representative," the police statemwent said.
"The man will appear at Newcastle Local Court on 13 April 2010 on three charges of supplying ecstasy and one charge of supplying cocaine."
Strike Force Welham is the same strike force that arrested former Newcastle Knights' player Danny Wicks.

Newcastle keep coping it, but I thought this would of come out earlier after the Wicks incident, why leave it till just before the season start. It's almost as if they're trying to ruin the club.
You got my sympathy Knights fans.

Wow, he is the last person I would of expected to be caught in this. Chris Houston was one of their best forwards in 2009 and he will be missed dearly.
People underrated the Knights saying they were gonna come last etc, I thought they were gonna make the 8 or be there abouts, but now with these 2 incidents I would be surprised if they made the 8

When they said they were investigating another player everyone thought it would be Houston as they were roommates...so i'm not too surprised, just dissapointed. I just hope to god these are the only two morons involved. They haven't said anything about another player so fingers crossed. I'm so sick of this.
*sobs*
Not giving up on the knights though, still have plenty of good players and we will still try hard and stick together.
EDIT: Big S if they kicked a club out everytime a player did something wrong there'd be no clubs left.

Oh dear! that's terrible news for the Knights. As Nikita said, its not much of a surprise that Houston is being charged, everyone had some sort of suspicion it would be him as well.
And Bill is right, it sure does take away all the excitement from the weekends trials and their high attendence as well as the Storm winning the WCC.

That sucks, Houston's a great player, it's a shame that he's a part of this mess. I feel sorry for the Knights, they're a great team who don't deserve to be put through this trouble because of a couple of idiots.

What an absolutely $hithouse way to start the season. I hope it's not going to be 2009 all over again. I'll bet this takes all the gloss away from the weekends trials and the club champuionship.

Personally I'm gutted. now the knights are going to be known as 'the drug club'. this is going to haunt us for years. if houston is found to have been involved he has to go and i hope he gets a life ban from league.also a complete internal investigation is due by the knights.

oh dear, knights are in all sorts now if they werent already, some selfish idiots cant help themselves, it's not good enough that they are rich, healthy and loved and well known by all of Australia, they have to break the law and rub the games nose in u know what, hmmmm, maybe one day they will learn and we can clean up the image of our game cos it really is the best in the world
