You need look no farther than Chicago. Fall apart roads do to substandard material, Federal bust of politicians on every major contract. A city with a history on how to do it.

USA - it costs more to do business, since there are kick-backs involved, with those costs ultimately paid by consumers.....the bidding is rigged, so fewer companies actually have a chance to compete (fairly).....there is a trickle-down of corruption into every aspect of government, with those in control can choose those to run for offices and manipulate elections....and this becomes so entrenched that it may take many years to bring honesty back into the government structure.
On ongoing FBI probe in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, has found this and much more over a time period that actually dates back to the 1980s. The indictments and guilty pleas are happening almost on a weekly basis in what is truly an organized crime syndicate masked as public service.
