Why do people dream about what they dream about?

Is it just stories that your mind makes up? Or is it exaggeration of past events mixed with things that happened to you that day? Why do people dream about what they dream about?

Why do you think about what you think about? Honestly, during your daytime thinking you go to places familiar, places present, places past, places fantastic, places real, places that fit your mood, places that touch on ideas, places that touch on questions, places that touch upon feelings. Your imagination and its wanderings during the daytime are only slightly different from your mental wanderings at night. Your musings in sleep, however, have much more limited inputs from your senses in the surroundings. The range of thoughts and the range of reasons, or lack of them, for those thoughts are enormous. During the night, however, you do not usually sustain the sense of focus for the task of the moment. Daydreams tend to be short and limited in scope because the wakefulness. Night dreams are sometimes just as limited because of noises, smells, temperature ranges, etc., but they can have longer and more realistic images because the imagination fills in for the relative dearth of visual and audio senses in particular. Deprive a person of sensory perceptions and the imagination makes perceptions. That is what we do in sleep. i believe dreams are a mix of what you think about during the day, what your sub conscience mind is telling you, what will happen in the future, and messages from god. I am not a very religious person but i do believe there is a higher power that controls aspects of our life. I have had dreams that have happened in the future. it really depends on the person and each dream is different. I think most dreams are of what you are thinking during the day and what your sub conscience mid is telling you.
