What are the best haircuts for thin hair?

I have very thin, pretty straight hair. Its relatively long now, but I want to get it cut. If I cut it shoulder length or shorter, will that make my hair look even thinner?

ooh i think i may be able to help here since i had/have thin hair! well, actually i have a lot of hair but

it's very fine. anyway, that's beside the point! here are some suggestions

    1. DO NOT get layers in your hair!! as tempting as it may be, that's one of the worst things you can do to thin hair

    2. yes, cut your hair, it CAN make it grow back thicker!

    3. use hair gels and sprays to add body to your hair. there's no specific technique you need to master, just put some in your hand and scrunch your hair up

    4. sometimes a front-fringe can make your hair look thicker, as long as when you get it cut, you tell the person cutting it, that you have thin hair and to not use too much of your hair in the fringe

    5. don't straighten your hair, this will make it look thinner

    6. try curling or slightly curling/waving parts of your hair but not perfectly, just for a rough look with body

    7. try a shampoo & conditioner that will add body to your hair

    8. look after your hair so not too much of it falls out!!

hope that helped. my hair is finally getting thicker & is actually pretty normal now! just growing out my layers from a while ago. this can take some time but it works!! good luck

My hair is thin and fine. On a shoulder-length haircut would a blunt cut across the back and layers around the face work for me, or if you have fine hair should have layers in the back so it looks like I have more hair, or would one length with no layers be better, but tapered on the side?

if your hair is very thin you are better to have it cut shorter it will make it look thicker also put some layers in as well as this will bulk your hair out and will have more volume also use some products as well eg mousse or a volume spray hope this helps :)

since i have thicker hair, i'm a little jealous (lol) because all the "pixie" type cuts are great for people like you with thinner hair. you can have them relatively short, or a couple inches below your chin, you just have to find the right cut for your face shape. :)

proportionally it'll make it seem thicker as longer hair normally appears flatter as it is heavier, the short hair will have more 'bounce.' why don't you get some layers put in too, to make it look thicker? :)
