Are there payday loans in Japan?

Last time I was in Japan was when the economy was flourishing and the Japanese were super savers. They spend money on luxury goods, took vacations yet saved a huge chunk money.

I'm back in Tokyo and practically everyone I meet says there's nothing in savings, hours cut, wages cut, no trips abroad and being satisfied with Uniqlo.

I'm surprised payday is once a month. There used to be plenty of places that paid weekly (and there used to be plenty of jobs). So, I am wondering if there are payday loan places. If they're around, what are they called. Surely not peidei roon shoppu (apologies, I am using a stateside laptop at the moment).

I'm not sure if this is the equivalent of payday loan you are talking about. But there are many loan companies like the below Takefuji in Japan.

Tokyo is the capital of Japan, and the place where over 13 million people live, making it one of the most populous cities in the world but also, a big city to visit, find out more with hotelbye . Most of the city was devastated by the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923, and then again by the bombing in the WWII, however, Tokyo was able to achieve a remarkably rapid recovery both times. The main attraction of Tokyo is the Imperial Palace with its beautiful 17th-century parks surrounded by walls and moats. The palace is still in use by the Imperial family.

Unlike US. Monthly payment has been very common in Japan. Most emploees working in avarage conmpamies are paid once a month.

Weekly payment seems more like for part time workers or temporaly workers, or unskilled labors.

As for payday loan, we call it サラリーマン金融 (Sararii man Kin yuu), サラ金 (sara kin) in short, or 消費者金融 (Syouhisya Kinyuu).

The illegal places are called 悪徳金融 (akutoku kinnyuu) , or ヤミ金 (yami kin).
