Woe Is Me
Who's with me?
It's April 2018, back in August 2009, Starbucks founder Howard Schultz was a big proponent of building a comfortable third place for people to work and socialize. This was a response regarding Wi-Fi usage so people were purchasing at least a drink. If Starbucks is saying anyone who enters their store just to hang out or as a meeting place without purchasing a thing is welcome, I will bring my own food and drink plus my laptop and be grateful to the others who order the rather pricey delicious drinks.
1 AnswerCorporations3 years agoWhat is BitCash and Mobile Edy?
Okay, so I am in Japan and surfing the net. I tried ordering from Amazon Japan and found out I could make my payment at a nearby convenience store. That was fun. (no fee or any other extra charges!) Now I am trying to order from another site and among those options are BitCash and Mobile Edy. Can someone please explain what they are?
Japan1 decade agoCan you recommend an acupuncture school?
My Japanese friend who is a therapist - trained and licensed in shiatsu (Japanese pressure point massage), reflexology and aromatherapy - is thinking of studying acupuncture in North America. She doesn't have any particular city in mind.
2 AnswersAlternative Medicine1 decade agoAre there payday loans in Japan?
Last time I was in Japan was when the economy was flourishing and the Japanese were super savers. They spend money on luxury goods, took vacations yet saved a huge chunk money.
I'm back in Tokyo and practically everyone I meet says there's nothing in savings, hours cut, wages cut, no trips abroad and being satisfied with Uniqlo.
I'm surprised payday is once a month. There used to be plenty of places that paid weekly (and there used to be plenty of jobs). So, I am wondering if there are payday loan places. If they're around, what are they called. Surely not peidei roon shoppu (apologies, I am using a stateside laptop at the moment).
6 AnswersJapan1 decade agoWhere can I purchase Tylenol in Japan?
I thought I would be able to purchase Tylenol in Japan. So far, the few people I ask have never heard of Tylenol. Tylenol kills my headaches so I like it. I don't have headaches often but when I do, I can't ignore the pain. Anybody know where I can purchase Tylenol in the Kansai area? Osaka, Kyoto, Nagoya areas... I arrived here a few days ago and haven't really gone exploring yet.
2 AnswersPain & Pain Management1 decade agoHow to deal with employers in Japan?
Say a Japanese citizen was abroad several years working and living in another country on expired documents, will Japanese employers care or need to know that person was in that situation? (anticipating questions like, "Why were you able to work in xxxx, were you married? Do you have permanent residency card? Do you have dual citizenship?")
1 AnswerJapan1 decade agoWhat happens if a person shows up at an airport with an expired passport and an expired tourist visa?
So, the person finally decides to head back home long after the parents are dead. Renewing the passport entails securing a piece of document from the home country which would have been easy if at least one parent was alive. What would airport officials do? Question and detain the person?
