Confused whether its anxiety or not?
In two weeks time I will be 21. My sister was diagnosed with MS 2 years ago just before she turned 23. For the last couple of years I have been suffering from bad anxiety. I also have a fairly bad short term memory. Since September I have found it very difficult to get a nights sleep. About 3-4 hours being the most I'd get.
I'm in college and find it very hard to concentrate and focus on the board. I can't retain information at all and thus find it very difficult to study. However when I was in secondary school I depended on my listening and my ability to retain information to learn and study.
I also think my muscles are getting weaker as I find it hard to even hold a door open for a couple of seconds without my arms giving way! In college there's a red strip to indicate the bottom step of the stairs and another red strip to tell you where the top most step is. I find if I'm looking down my coordination gets affected and I feel dizzy.
I used to get eye twitches, pains in back and front of eyes, shooting pains in my forearm (Hasn't happened in a while) Had a strange twitch in my right cheek a couple of times too. My legs go numb while I'm lying in bed lately too, I might be paying too much attention to the symptoms but my sister had some of these before she was diagnosed and was told it was severe stress and anxiety. Any idea's?

I was diagnosed with MS 8 years ago. Many of the symptoms you have had are symptoms of MS. HOWEVER, all of them could point to something else. Like anxiety or stress. This is the problem with diagnosing MS, all of the symptoms can be other things. The ONLY way to be sure is to see a Doctor and get referred to a Neurological specialist.
Remember, the sooner you get diagnosed IF you have MS, the sooner you can get treatment and help.
Hope this helps.

Try getting a Calcium/Magnesium/Zinc supplement. Take it with a meal. Reduce you simple sugar intake and caffeine as well-significantly. Eat three healthy salads (with minimal oils/dressings) a week and stay hydrated. Try Glaceau Smartwater with fresh lemon juice. Educate yourself on anti-yeast diets but do not obsess. But do change your diet at your own guided pace and try to gradually develop a discipline. As it changes you should feel better. Tell your sister, too. Try to deal with things dietarily if you can. Ask your respective doctors to help you with that and be weary if all they wish to tell you about is meds. Read about the benefits of the mediterranean diet foodstuffs and citrus and tropical fruits like coconut meat and pineapple (fresh).
