Mortal Sins are sins that will send you to Hell if you die without going to Confession. Venial Sins are more minor sins that injure the soul, but that can be forgiven with a sincere prayer of repentance, or by going to Mass. If you die with Venial Sins (and many Christians do), you will have to spend time in Purgatory, after you die, before you can go to Heaven.

    Mortal Sins are things like:

    Murder

    Masturbation

    Sex Outside Marriage

    Abortion

    Artificial Contraception

Skipping Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation

    Venial Sins are things like:

    A Small Lie

    Losing your Temper

Letting your Mind Wander at Mass

    Gossiping

To do a good Confession you need to think over your sins beforehand, be sincere in regretting them, and honestly want to stop sinning. Make sure not to hold anything back.

Before you make your decision..PLEASE READ...

I want to let you know that i'm 13 years old. For the first 10 years of my life, I was catholic. we tried to go to church every sunday, but sometimes it didnt work out for us. Our friends and family were pretty much all catholic and they all felt like they HAD to go to church. They never WANTED to go. Whenever i was in that church, i turned around and looked at the clock to see when we could leave. it was sooo boring.

when my mom married my step-dad, i was 11 years old. my step-dad was baptist so my mom decided we should try the baptist church. i was very much against this because i felt like i was catholic and not baptist. the first year or two, i absolutly HATED the baptist church. the reason for this was because i never had an open mind. the baptist church saved my life and my eternal life. when i was catholic, i didnt even know what being "saved" was. i had never read a word of the bible. the catholics are too concerned with teaching people the laws of THEIR CHURCH and NOT the laws of christianity. if i hadnt gone to the baptist church, i wouldve gone to hell, and now i thank God that he sent my step-dad to show me how to live.

Now don't get me wrong, there are A LOT of really good catholics out there, but i think you should do some research and try a baptist or any protestant church. there are a lot of things i dont agree with in the catholic church.

good luck! and GOD BLESS YOU!!! :)

You have my deepest sympathies and condolences.

Buy and read the Cathechism of the Catholic Church...it has everything you need to know in it.
