iPod won't connect to iTunes (Vista). Please help!!!?
I just got a new computer awhile back and it happens to be a Vista. When I connect my iPod to my computer, I immediately get an error message in iTunes stating "This iPod cannot be used because the Apple Mobile Device service is not started."
Does anyone know what this means and what I can do to fix this problem?
Thanks in advance!!

Close iTunes and disconnect the iPhone or iPod touch.
# Choose Start > Control Panel.
# Inside the Control Panel, open Administrative Tools.
# Open Services.
# Select Apple Mobile Device and click Stop the service as shown below:
Select Apple Mobile Device and Stop the service
# After the service is stopped, click Start the service.
# After the Apple Mobile Device service has started again, open iTunes and connect the device

1. Reset or restore your iPod for a try, this can fix many general iPod problems.
2. You may try this iTunes alternative, I always use it to upload music and video to my iPod once my iTunes can't recognize my iPod, my friends recommend it to me, it's safe and works pretty well, you can also use it to copy music and video from ipod to computer for backup, it's useful when you lost your iTunes library.

3. Upgrade or re-install iTunes for a try, this is the method that I got from Apple technical support. Hope it helps. Contact me if you have any other question.
