What will happen when the cost of health care causes more businesses to close, and more jobs to be lost?

The health care bill will cost business owners 7% increase in their payroll tax and YOU 2% more on your income tax. So when businesses are all ready strapped and barely surviving, once this goes through more businesses will close, more jobs will be lost and then no one will be paying the taxes that are supposed to pay for it, and then we will all get to go to jail since we wont be able to purchase health ins. Are we all to just be poor, jobless, and only have what the gov gives us? Think about this people, the Obamination is throwing OUR CONSTITUTION in the trash.

El Perro thinks the Constitution is living, so it's okay by his logic to change/add/and repeal (aka cherry pick) which parts suit a certain party's agenda.

Here's an interpretation for ya: Participation in interstate commerce (health insurance in this case) is a privilege, it does not give the government the right to coerce the people to buy something they don't want to buy (this is called tyranny).

This is part of what the TEA party is protesting (which is their CONSTITUTIONAL right to do so).

I just wonder whose bright idea it was to include health insurance as an added incentive to employment...oh yeah, that would have been the bright idea of massive Corporations that at one time could afford to hand out such bennies. And what happened is that that concept trickled down to include small businesses who can least afford extra expenses.

Now a decent wage is passed up by prospective employees who also seem to believe that it is the employers OBLIGATION to provide mega expensive insurance to the employees...does not seem to matter the size of the business.

I own a video rental business. I do twice the business that the Blockbuster down the street does because I am an independent who gives excellent service...the big corporate powerhouse Blockbuster has 7 employees, 3 full timers who get some insurance benefits. I have ONE employee, myself...I run the entire business by myself, 90-110 hours a week, seven days a week...and guess what? I cannot afford insurance for myself...no way I can pay for an employee's insurance.

Corporate Collusion is what I call it....in the video rental business it works like this : Corporate Insurance companies offer fantastic deals to Corporations like Blockbuster and make is twice as expensive for the little guy (me) to buy a policy for a mere 1 or 2 employees. It works for Blockbuster because they damn well know the little guys cannot afford it and after working themselves near to death the little guy will sell out to the big guy which of course increase the profit of the corporation.

Who are the corporate butt kissers? Conservatives of course....they won't be happy until there are NO small businesses left in this country.

It is not just the Liberals....it is both sides colluding with big business to kill small business as well as making it so EVERY American citizen has NO CHOICE but to slave away for a Corporation because the price of insurance is out of their reach.

So much for the American Dream....

The health care reform was so tyrannical and unconstitutional that the GOP doesnt want to get its hands dirty. They can declare themselves free from sin when this thing backfires and health care costs and insurance rises through the roof. But I am sure liberals will find a way to blame Bush or conservatives after the fact

Unfortunately, some don't care...they figure it won't cost THEM so they fail to examine the big picture. The government doesn't do well and does not belong running business...look at GM then look at Ford...one had sales that went up 37% .....the one run by business not government..GM is crashing.

Kahless below...if you need to see that it will cost us all and businesses more than you don't have a lick of common sense, which is what most liberals are missing...if you only have five bucks in your wallet, you can not spend seven..I didn't need to read that or see it in print...I just knew that.

Businesses are getting tax credits for hiring. They will be able to buy group insurance on an exchange for a lot less than they pay now. For individuals if you cannot afford insurance you can choose from a variety of plans and get a subsidy. You will buy insurance rather than pay a fine, which does not benefit you.

How does the health plan violate the Constitution?

Wrong on the facts, high on the fear.

    This is so 2009.

It is now 2010 and businesses will get a tax break....

This bill follows things in our constitution that men with wooden teeth could not comprehend, thus the Constitution is a living document not a static one, it has to be interpreted, just not read like the Bible as divine truth and even with the Bible, how many RELIGIONS come from that.

So, if GOD can not get his or her act together and make a book that is easy to understand, easy to develope a theological system that we can all agree on, then how can a group of white, rich mostly slave owners?

Your constitution class is failing you! THIS will be the real best answer you will get, I know, for I understand politics fully.

And your reference for this is? I assume it is something from Fox News? Why would I be paying 2% more in my income tax? Why would it be costing business owners 7% more in their payroll tax? If you are going to state something as fact, give references. I heard that the savings in employees not being ill on the job will save the businesses 15% in lost wages. Did I make that up, hmmm?

I feel he is trying to take America apart. Like the progressives and ole bo could care less about more jobs lost, If ole bo did care would he not have worked on that first.

So hows that hope and change going for ya??

yeap, you pretty much got it, however, i'll add this; most of the costs will be passed along to the consumer, ergo, inflation. yarrrrr...inflation is my biggest fear. and ol' boy still wants to do cap and trade. i don't know where you get the money? i guess you could close the pentagon and fire the army. maybe that would do it. these harvard libs are nuttso. i dunno who teaches economics there but they should be fired or shot. lol

Gee, I guess we'll just have to shut down the country over those tax increases, even though tax rates topped out at 93% in 1955, and we somehow survived.
