Was Jimi Hendrix buried with his guitar or was that just a myth?

This just shows you how widespread this myth is. Remember that Jimi had several guitars and a lot of equipment. Most of the guitars and other equipment were left to Chas Chandler (Jimi's manager) A few of the guitars were left to his family and were not buried with him. There are literally hundreds of claims that someone has the "original" Hendrix strat but they are all fakes. Most of the real "Hendrix" strats have been sold to collectors. For many years the Hendrix estate had to fight to retain any of the rights to his royalties. There is still much arbitration over various aspects of the estate.

On the Dick Cavet show, Jimi was on for an entire week. When Dick asked him how it felt to be the greatest guitar player alive, he replied "I don't know about that, you'd have to ask Phil Kheage. (SP)? I believe what made him so popular was his intensity and totally out of it over the top style of playing. As a previous poster said, a lot of what is played today has some roots in Hendrix's musical style. When he first became "noticed", he was playing with a band called The Isley Brothers. His style was so eccentric, they decided they could do better without him. He was one of the originals to record a riff, then play it backwards, and then record over it. (Third Stone From The Sun is a good example). That's a few of the reasons he has such a high rating, and among us older guitarist he is definitely one of the benchmarks!

I saw Rory Gallagher in 1976 with Jethro Tull and Robin Trower along with 80,000 other party goers. Great show by all. What a zoo! We were about 25ft from front, center stage. By the time JT came on, we were packed like sardines.

hmm i honstly can't tell you, i've heard the same for the irish blues-rocker Rory Gallagher. he touredwith his guitar for over 30 years with it, however his brother Donal is in possesion of the guitar.

    maybe its similar with Hendrix

the 2nd video is Rorys famous Stratocaster that has its own model made from it

Rory Gallagher- Too Much Alcohol (acoustic slide VERY catchy)

Rory Gallagher- Walk On Hot Coals (ROCK, the 5 minute solo isn't as good as the ''irish tour'' solo, but jesus christ this rules & it highlights the bands chemistry)

''Rory's death really upset me. I heard about it just before we went on stage, and it put a damper on the evening'' Jimmy Page (Led Zep)

“ One of the things that was crucial for me I got from Rory Gallagher, which was the idea of, like, being a guitar player for life and living it '' Johnny Marr (The Smiths)

''The man who got me back into the blues'' -Eric Clapton (Yardbirds Cream etc)

always the same guy, never wanted to be starry just wanted to play music, the purest kind of musician he was. And i dont know if this sounds Corny or whatever but its the absolute truth- i never met anybody like him- Never. he taught me humility & dedication & reinforced my belief that this (guitarist) really was a proper job.... i owe him my sound'' - Brian May (Queen)
