Driving to colorado Denver from california San Francisco in early April?
I will be driving my own car there - it's a front wheel drive. Any suggestions of routes I should take? Scenic routes? I want the safest and direct route.

Best and most scenic is I-80 to Salt Lake City then I-15 South to I-70 the I-70 East to Denver....I-70 through Utah is the most scenic Interstate stretch in America

Go with Cataraft for the scenery and such. BUT DO NOT RENT A CAR FOR THREE MONTHS!!! (pardon my caps, but I mean it sincerely) First of all, as a travel agent, I KNOW that it's hard enough for anyone under 25 to rent one in the first place. Virtually impossible. 99.999999% NOT gonna happen. Secondly, the fees for dropping a car off in another location are astronomical, and that's even within the same state. I had a guy who wanted to rent a car in one FL town and drop it off in another FL town -- almost doubled the cost. And then to have it for 3 months? It'd be far cheaper to buy an old reliable car (Camry or similar), and hope they can get back 75% of the cost when they resell it after the trip. Might be difficult if they have to resell it quickly, as in taking whatever they can get for it, but still . . . To recap -- renting it for 2 weeks, as I understand is an option, would probably be A) impossible and B) less cost effective than buying it for 3 months. Good luck!

The most direct and fastest is I-80 east to Cheyenne. I-25 south to Denver.
