Question about Oscar food?

I feed my Oscar freeze dried shrimp, why is this bad? or is it. In some of my other questions people say do not feed them this, on the fresh kind from the store.

You can feed them freeze-dried shrimp if you rehydrate them in tank water before you feed them to the fish. They can cause constipation if you don't do this. Fresh shrimp are much healthier for him (make sure you leave the shell on) though. I feed my oscar 1/3 of a shrimp 2 times a week, so obviously a 5 lb bag of shrimp will last you a LONG time. Mine was about $15.

From what I have read, the best staple for oscars is cichlid pellets with all sorts of frozen or fresh proteins in differing forms. The link below has a great list of foods for you to feed. Like humans, variety is the spice of life, never feed just one kind of food.
