Ofcourse I agree with him. With most of our domestic players leaving SA to play for England, we are seriously running out of talented players!

I know its not nice to say, But I was feeling quite depressed when Keiswetter was batting like that against Bangladesh in the last ODI. I was like, 'Great, we just managed to lose yet another Gem!'

No, I think the day when Britain opened its doors to the world changed a lot of things, Kieswetter for instance has a British mother, so has dual nationality, its up to him to make a decision and the boards to pick who is available.

Immigration and integration will always throw up conflict, and countries that people want to come to will obviously produce mixed race generations, meaning more dual nationalities and more choice for those individuals concerned.

It was not that long ago that the first Black player represented England, nowadays we could probably field an all West Indian, South African or Indian ethnic originating eleven, and be competitive at a good level.

Edit: Ricky, Wessels never played for England, he played for Aus and SA.

I don't agree with Vaughan. England team will be in tatters without foreign born players.

The number of cricketers who were born not in England are just too many, from their captain Andrew Strauss to the newcomer Craig Kieswetter. And their batting mainstay, Kevin Pietersen is another player from South Africa and add Jonathan Trott to that. And Eoin Morgan is from Ireland. If England starts to play only English players, then Bangladesh will overtake them. Vaughan is talking crap (and he sounds racist).

It was much easier in earlier days when SA was not part of International cricket. The likes of Tony Greig, Basil d'Oliviera, Robyn Smith. Graeme Hick came to and played for England because they couldn't play for SA. Now it is looking like "If I can't make the SA side, I'll go to England". I agree with Vaughan. Look at the players in India, Pakistan, SL and Australia who can't get a run in their national side, you don't see them running off to England.

Well if they have dual nationalities what can they do??

Well i too agree with what vaughan said.It reduces the chance of an english player who had played county cricket from an young age. Thus will discourage homegrown players.

I think he is right They have to set the best cricket in their own country not purchasing the other countries like Peterson how fine player he is.But he grown in SA playes for England.

  • 1 decade ago

where was he when Petersen was playing match winning innings and key role of england team.

and morgan is also from ireland.

if we take out petersen, trot, and morgan england will be down at number 7 in ranking.

and it think its from beginning in england. kepler wessel was captain of SA, and when SA lost ODI cap, he play for england. and when SA regain ODI cap he return to team and played for SA again.

And any Australian played for England i old era too.

i am sure SA player will be feeling strange in dressing room. if i would be there i would immediately have called them to play for SA africa.

    Vaughan is absolutely doing wrong.
