Did you hear about the hens killing the fox?

When a fox took on some feisty Rhode Island Red chickens in Essex this week it got its comeuppance. The cockerel, Dude, led his ladies into battle against the predator. The chickens kicked over their feeding table in their coop, knocking the fox out, and then proceeded to peck it to death. Nice one Rhodies!

I saw the video but there was no footage of the dead fox? I expect the fox was weak or disorientated in the hen house, perhaps it has been stunned by a car earlier and keeled over? Hens would not kill a fit fox, if it was attacked it would run away not lay down and die.

Either the story is fabricated or something else was going on that made the fox die. I don't believe the "table fell on it" story either.

I live nearby - this story is not all it's cracked up to be.

Seems like the garden table fell onto the fox first, squashing it THEN the chickens started to peck it. The pictures in our local paper show a very Flat Fox - about an inch thick - laid on it's side.
