  • Fractured leg not walking at 16 weeks?

How long will healing take place? I fractured leg in two places (tibial plateau area) dislocated kneecap and also broke arm and wrist. Both arm and leg have had plates screwed in. Arm has stopped me using normal crutches due to downward pressure and I have only had gutter crutches for a week. I've been out of action 16 weeks and and have only last week put on full weight bearing. How long to walk after full weight bearing allowed?

  • Ginger wine concentrate?

When I was younger my mum and gran used to buy small bottles of dark ginger concentrate every Xmas and New Year and use it to make bottles of 'ginger wine' (non-alcoholic). We lived in the North East of the UK.

These bottles were small, square shaped ones with a yellow lable on them. Anyone have any idea what the brand was?

  • Best non-alcoholic drink to try ?

What's the best non-alcoholic drink? I hate coffee, not keen on too fizzy drinks, allergic to coconut and despise orange juice. I drink a lot of water or tea but am getting bored. Any tips?

  • Paracetamol-why is it in vogue?

I hear and read everywhere that paracetamol is a VERY dangerous drug and even a slight overdose can ruin your liver for life or even kill quickly. How is it then that every doc now says to take it for everything from common cold to slipped disc to operation pain? It is in cold remedies and cough syrups. It is also available in nearly all kinds of medication for small babies and children and I have seen way too many mums giving babes too much syrupy mixture with it in.

When I was growing up we always took aspirin or soluble aspirin. I know that Aspirin can cause stomach problems but can never remember anyone being ill with it. Why is paracetamol now the painkilling drug of choice???

  • Stepdaughter want's boyfriend in bedroom - your advice pls?

We are both mid 50's with 2 kids still at home (girl 17 and boy nearly 16).

We have large home and insist that friends/boyfriends/girlfriends stay in a large second living room with large screen tv, satellite, internet access) when at our house. When they were a liitle bit younger ,friends visiting caused damage and we are very uncomfortable with youngsters 'camping' out if allowed in bedrooms - we are wanting to have our own space now with our older children having already left home.

My stepdaughter of 17 is arguing that we are the only people who don't allow boyfriends in bedrooms.

As her bedroom is above one of our living rooms we would also feel uncomfortable if they grabbed the opportunity to have sex.

I am very uncomfortable with this house becoming a free-for-all and would hate that on reaching 16 my stepson trooped his girfriends through the house, claiming that if it was ok for his sister, it should be ok with him.

As our other children are a lot older (36 and 25) we did not have the same pressure with them that we seem to be having with this generation.

What I want to know is 'That in this day and age are we being unreasonable to still ban people from upstairs in our house or is my stepdaughter just 'trying it on' and do our firm rules still make sense?'

  • Why does skimmed and semi-skimmed milk taste like wood?

It's not just me who thinks this, my kids and my friends wll not drink it due to the slight 'sawdust' taste. Even dried skimmed milk when made up to a liquid tastes very odd.

  • Who gets your vote next month - locally or nationally?

    and why??????

I am just curious as my friends and I feel let down by the main parties. I would never not vote - too many of our ancestors fought for the right - but like thousands of others don't know where to put the cross.

  • Am I the only one to think that todays 'fashion' shoes are ugly?

What has happened to shoes? Horrible things like boots with holes in the toes - nasty high heeled sandals with straps and buckles going up to the ankles (I counted 15 buckles on a pair yesterday - must burn in the heat of a summer's day). The most ugly being the most fashionable!

I thought high heels were about making us girls look and feel more confident and sexy. These monstrosities just make all the wearers look very, very odd. EvenCheryl Cole recently sported a pair of boots with her big toes sticking out - yuk- they spoiled the look of her legs completely! and don't get me started on the monsters Gwneth Paltrow wears!

  • Been to Tate Modern today ? - uurrgghhh?

Am I alone in thinking the Tate Modern is a bit boring and sad?

Went with an open mind but was gobsmacked at the sheer amount of dross in there - and badly made dross at that!

Is everyone drooling over 'modern art' just playing 'Emperor's New Clothes'?

  • Best and/or cheapest 2 man hot tub in the UK.?

Anyone know a good cheap 2 person hot tub/spa/jacuzzi in the UK?

I do NOT want a 'blow-up' one or a one costing a fortune. I also do not want all-singing, all dancing 'footballers wives' ones. Just a sturdy, small unit. I am looking for a one to help with a bad back.

  • Migraines - Do you get them for no reason?

Do you get them for no reason?

I have tried, diets, food elimination, food diaries, long term preventative medication (all types), lifestyle changes, acupuncture, massage, weight loss, weight gain, cranial massage, hormone replacement, pain management clinics, posture re-alignment, 5-htp, allergy testing etc etc etc and nothing seems to work to stop them - only Triptans work when I have an attack but where I live my Primary Care Trust only lets me have 6 tablets a month - due only to cost - not medical need. I can still wake up or just get a migraine without warning. How many a month do YOU get. Thanks.
