Who gets your vote next month - locally or nationally?

and why??????

I am just curious as my friends and I feel let down by the main parties. I would never not vote - too many of our ancestors fought for the right - but like thousands of others don't know where to put the cross.

    Hello.

I see the usual rubbish answers have sprung up looking for their points.

I think one of the contributors is from Yahoo USA hence the response so perhaps there are local and state elections within the USA soon.

I have already reluctantly voted Conservative (postal voter) as I don't want five more years of New Labour and certainly don't want the wishy-washy Liberal Democrates voted in. Judging by the TV and radio debates, the majority of the electorate are having the most difficult time ever on deciding what to vote for.

All of them are deceiving the electorate about what they'll do if elected. Its not the electing them that concerns me,its what they do after they've been elected and by how much our taxes will go up,and where the £1 trillion pounds-worth of savings are made over the next 5 years.

I wish you and your friends every success in trying to weed out facts from fiction when choosing someone to vote for. Its not what these politicians say that bothers me,its what they don't say which angers me.

    All the best,

    Big L 266

    Lib Dems

They want political reform, were against the Iraq war for the right reasons, want to cut Trident and scrap ID cards, rein in government administration, break up the "too big to fail" banks, raise the tax threshold, reduce global warming, and invest in science.

And these are their real long-standing policies, not something they’ve just dreamt up for this election, like the other lot.

And BTW they have given a timetabled commitment to phasing out student tuition fees.

If I wasn't in Scotland, it would be the Lib Dems; comments about unrealistic policies are something of a laugh; if you decide who to vote for on those grounds you've ruled out all three of the big parties who are all making laughable policies on one thing or another.

But I'm Scottish, in Scotland, so I'm doing what I've always done since I was old enough to vote.

Scottish National Party. The only party which will ensure Scotland gets heard.

I will be voting Lib Dem- I agree with most, if not all of their policies, such as stopping people on low wages from paying tax, working towards a ceasefire in Afghanistan and scrapping tuition fees for universities. Most of them seem to be aimed towards giving people of all backgrounds equal opportunities to be successful, which is definately how it should be.

I can't stand the tories, for a number of reasons. They always put rich people first: they want parents to set up their own schools and rich people to pay less inheritance tax (poor people obviously don't inherit as much). They also invest in successful businesses to let successful businessmen and women get even richer. Their interests are clearly with the wealthy, regardless of what they say otherwise. Also, letting parents run their own schools is a ludicrous idea. Getting rid of bad headteachers and replacing them with people who don't have the faintest clue on how to run a school is ridiculous. God help us if they get in.

Since Labour are already in power, I find it hard to see how things will change under Labour. I don't hate Gordon Brown but I disagree with him wanting to raise the school and training leaving age to 18 and reclassifying cannabis to a Class B drug. It was also Labour who led us into the Iraq war so I have little faith in them.

Listening to Peter mandelson this morning explaining in more detail about a number of issues and questions put to him I was very satisfied with his answers. As some people say Labour has F...ed the country up I would say take a good hard look at the Tories , crime was much higher when they were in power and their policy of Big Society means your on your Own, with no help at all , Get your history books out and quick to see what you will let yourself in for with a Conservative government. Maybe take a look at their heavy handedness in northern Ireland in comparison to labour this could decide your future.
