Is the gender description in Proverbs as is?

I know of a friend who thinks that she was being referred to as "my son" by Solomon, and that she actually has a "wife" in her youth. BTW, she's a tomboy.

tomboys don't exist... but apart from that in Solomon if you're referring to wisdom, then "my son" refers to "my child"

It would help if you could provide the verse in question. The phrase, "my son" shows up in the Bible many times. The context in which that phrase is used can influence it's intended Interpretation.

In the interest of Interpretation (Capital "I"), your friend needs to be wary of personal interpretation and, as difficult as it may be, yield to the CHURCH'S Interpretation of Proverbs' use of the phrase "my son".
