Why most of the non Muslims prefer to read and depend on books written by people critical to Islam only?

Because people have different situations, different reaction, different belief system, different growing environment, different conclusion on same statement.

What I know of Islam I have read about here in Yahoo Answers over the past couple of years. Islam is a strangely foreign belief system to me, that I don't accept. I am not an Arab, therefore I don't speak or understand the language of Islam. I will not be ordered to wear the hijab if I don't want to and NOBODY would ever find it easy to get me in a niqab and make me keep it on!

I don't like the strictness of the religion, in fact, I reject religion altogether. I love my freedom. I value my freedom to decide about life, death, purpose or no purpose. It's MY decision, it is not some cleric's or clergyman's decision. I don't believe your religion and don't accept it. That is all.

Friend, There is quite a history before there was a Islam. People who are not indoctrinated into your religion can accept the truth and therefore do not need to only depend on the teachings of Islam to explain away the many problems with your religion.

The books about Muhammad are called Hadiths and they are not written by people anti Islam they are written by Muslims.

Please study your own hadiths and explain them away as anti islamic propaganda.

they are the only chance to get a fair and balanced view of islam. islamic books start from the point of view that the koran is perfect and has no errors. you would not expect a pro islamic book to acknowledge that a certain islamic custom is pre islamic or that there is no evidence what so ever for this fact in the koran or that Mohamed took his medical knowledge from galen so some of the koran is wrong. you know the pro islamists will never concede anything could be wrong or mistaken so their books are religious and faith based, not logic and evidence based.

What makes some Muslims think that the reason for people's dislike of Islam comes from what the media says? Has it not ever occurred to you that many people draw their conlcusions from what they have read in the Quran and Hadith.

I think islam should be opened up to critical study, just like christianity. I think you should read "Why I Am Not A Muslim", by Ibn Warraq.

The Hadith makes clear that Muhammad was a sinner--NOT sinless as some Muslims now claim:

"Muhammad replied..."O Allah, set me apart from my sins..."

Muhammad not assured of paradise.

Muhammad was not sure if he was going to heaven himself:

The Prophet said, "By Allah, though I am the Apostle of Allah, yet I do not know what Allah will do to me."

I don't - simple observation of the Muslim world's reactions to ANY criticism of their ideology is plenty of evidence as to how violent and xenophobic the religion is

I read what Muslims say here and in debates with their supposed "top scholars."
