It usually takes more then one attempt. Some people do it cold turkey (put them aside and don't touch another and deal with intense with drawl feelings. For some reason some people like to carry a full pack with them while they do this. I guess it is an assurance thing.knowing it is available. Personally I would automatically be reaching for that pack.

Here is how I did it. The first time I attempted this I got a call about an accident with my daughter. It is a law that something tragic that is going to make you want to smoke is going to happen.

My wife needs the computer I'll finish this later.

the good news is that i now have been quit for over 5 years.. i quit trying to quit alone, and joined a support group.. i attend nicotine anonymous meetings both locally and on line.. on line voice meetings are he as close as your computer, and you can attend while still smoking, before actually attempting a quit.. however you decide to quit good luck, there is simply no wrong way to quit!!

Nicotine Anonymous is a Non-Profit 12 Step Fellowship of men and women helping each other live nicotine-free lives. Nicotine Anonymous welcomes all those seeking freedom from nicotine addiction, including those using cessation programs and nicotine withdrawal aids. The primary purpose of Nicotine Anonymous is to help all those who would like to cease using tobacco and nicotine products in any form. The Fellowship offers group support and recovery using the 12 Steps as adapted from Alcoholics Anonymous to achieve abstinence from nicotine.

I would advise cold turkey. That is how I quit. It will not be fun for the first couple of weeks but stick to it. Do not give in. Just say no. You can do it. Don't use medication. Just kick the cigs to the curb and be strong.

chew gum, stop buying the cigarettes and if you do buy them ask someone to throw them away for you. Get a friend to help you quit. If you want one than distract yourself.
