Has the world really changed or does news just make it seem that way?

Honestly, my life just goes on as usual. The air is the same, water is water, people are mostly nice but some aren't, there's crime but I mostly feel safe, you need money in order to buy stuff, some people have jobs and others don't, some nations are at peace and others are at war, religions carry on and each still claims to be the true path, plants and rocks and oceans and clouds don't care about us, and basically the planet keeps spinning without a lot of significant change taking place.

Do we focus too much on perceived threats, disasters, rare events and conspiracy theories? Aren't we really doing fine other than the problems we invent in our own minds? Isn't thought our real enemy? If you stop thinking about politics, don't you notice that politics aren't affecting your life?

You got a good point and it was not until I aged a little that issues really started bothering me. I get more irked by politicians who act more like children than officials that are supposed to speak for my needs. I still think the environments fine but its not ok to kill thousands of whales, destroy thousands upon thousands of acres of rain forest a day, or just do harm to then environment for profit only.

I dont pay much mind to politics anymore cause when I did they really did not get much done anyways. Politics affects the super rich and the super poor mostly. We may get a tax break here or there but mostly nothing really affects my life...

You are right, nothing changes. I think the problem is, the only news the media feels is worth reporting is bad news. Wars, Genocide, Global Warming, Earthquakes and Hurricanes, plus the odd murder or child abuse case. Wheres the good news? The news that will give us all that feel good factor, I'm sure there must be some.

I think the slow train we used to ride to enjoy the scenery, is now

a run-away train going faster and faster today and will probably

soon jump the track and crash. We need new people in D.C. to

run America according to the Constitution, and with less spending,

less corruption, and who will only do what's good for the United

States and it's citizens - not themselves.

Basically it's still the same. The big differences are: information travels much quicker, thanks to all the different ways we can communicate with each other, and for the past 50 or so years, we have possessed the power to destroy the planet.

You do make a point, but many on this site have no life.
