How do I buy supplies at wholesale prices?

I want to buy fabrics at wholesale prices, then use the materials to make stuff and sell it. I thought I could do that with a resale license, but it looks like I can only resell the materials according to the FAQ on the application for California. How do small businesses get a good deal on materials?

Unless you're buying from jobbers, wholesale fabric minimums are typically quite high, usually at least 1000 yards per fabric and colorway.

You also need special manufacturing licenses in California: http://www.fashion-incubator.com/archive/apparel_m... http://www.fashion-incubator.com/archive/studying_... http://www.fashion-incubator.com/archive/sewing_co...

many of the companies advertising wholesale products are NOT legitimate wholesale companies. In fact, they're far from it. I've found that most of all the wholesale promotions you see kicked around the Internet fall into one of the following three scenarios: A) The discounts (wholesale prices) offered on the products are not low enough for you to make a profit, and the products are either outdated or have very little demand B) The discounts (wholesale prices) offered on the products are low, but the products are either outdated or have very little demand C) The products are actually in demand, but the discounts (wholesale prices) are by no means low enough for you to make a profit So If you want to buy wholesale products for resale? You must find a good wholesale company.

You don't. Wholesale prices are for merchants who plan to sell the items as is.
