  • How long exactly is five years considered for nursing school applications?

I am applying to a nursing program this fall (Oct 15 deadline). They require a Sociology prerequisite that I took in the Fall 2007 semester, to be within 5 years of admission. Does that meet the cut off? Or do I need to take one this summer? I will be emailing admissions, just wanted to see if any nursing students or others reading this might know the answer.

  • What happens if you no longer qualify for Medi-Cal?

We were finally approved for Medi-Cal, and I cancelled my insurance and my daughter's insurance (that whole process took 2 months, and my daughter still isn't set up on a real plan). I just received a Quarterly Report in the mail and they want me to report all income for February. My tax return was high (which I'm hoping they don't count against me?).. and our income was a little higher than expected (we receive GI Bill benefits, and they vary and are hard to guess ahead of time, and only last for one more month), but I think still under the limit. I'm expecting a baby in about 3 weeks, and now I'm worried my Medi-Cal will be cut off before I have a chance to get my old insurance back, that wouldn't happen, would it? When you're no longer eligible for Medi-Cal do they cut off your benefits immediately, or give you a little time to get on to a different plan? This is all so nerve racking! I just want to make sure my birth and my daughter's health are covered! I'm almost 100% sure I'm still under the limit, especially since I'm pregnant, but I don't feel secure in this at all. Can someone reassure me?

  • My hand has been numb for most of the day, should I be worried?

Half of my hand has been numb for most of the day. It's not falling asleep like needles where you can shake it off. It's just numb and tingly. No other symptoms except I've been tired today, but that could easily be just from my life being busy. Anyone know why this might be?

  • Where to shop for a man who doesn't like to be trendy?

My husband's style is definitely much more lumberjack then anything else. He wears jeans and T-shirts, but doesn't like T-shirts that have a brand name on them or too loud of a color/print. He wears a lot of plaid and flannel, but I'm trying to find him something a little different that wouldn't be too big of a stretch. I like shopping at urban outfitters, ruche, and boden. Can anyone recommend a few stores I could check out for him? (Not dept stores or urban outfitters). Thanks!!

  • My 2 year old is terrified of water being poured on her head?

Has anyone been through this? She was a little scared of it/would whine when I got the cup. Now, 2-3 months later, she FREAKS OUT. Starts climbing out of the tub, contorts her body so that it's impossible to put her back in the tub. No matter what I do, it just doesn't seem to do any good. Does anyone know what this is? Or why it is happening? Is it just a phase?

  • How far in advance can you buy a pre-cooked ham?

I'm planning on buying a pre-cooked ham from my grocer to serve my guests on Christmas Eve. I would like to get it out of the way to be sure they won't be sold out. How far in advance can I get one without having to freeze it? Do they stay good for a while? Do I need to look for a 'sell by' date to tell me how long it will be good for?

  • Can you go straight from an RN to an MSN?

My husband has a BA and is gearing up to start his pre-requisites for an RN program. My question is, should we just go for the BSN program? I've found one that will take the same about of time (more classes, but same amount of time). I do think he will be interested in an MSN down the line, so will he need the BSN to go for the MSN or can you go straight from RN to MSN. In short, can you apply for a Masters Nursing program as a Registered Nurse (without a Bachelors in Nursing)?

  • How much does it cost to have a memorial bench put in a park?

I know it varies from park to park and that I will have to call for an exact figure, but does anyone have experience with this? A friend of mine lost his brother and I would really like to help him have a permanent place to remember his brother (besides the ocean), but I don't know if this is even an option. We live near Redondo Beach, CA if that helps.

  • How to relieve "baby-fever"?

I cannot stop dreaming about when I will have another baby! It makes me so sad! My husband wants to wait until things settle down at his work in case I need help while I am pregnant, especially with our toddler, but I can't help but get sad and annoyed that I can't be pregnant now. Any ideas on how to reduce baby-fever? I know it would be better to wait, I just can't seem to convince my body of that :/

  • How do I buy supplies at wholesale prices?

I want to buy fabrics at wholesale prices, then use the materials to make stuff and sell it. I thought I could do that with a resale license, but it looks like I can only resell the materials according to the FAQ on the application for California. How do small businesses get a good deal on materials?

  • If I choose to co-sleep, do I have to go to bed at the same time as my daughter?

My daughter is 12 months. Lately she's been having issues with teething, and wakes up around 1-2AM. A few times, rather than try to coax her back to sleep, I just sleep with her on the floor in her room. I have actually felt a stronger bond with her these days, and have looked in to the benefits of co-sleeping. I was too nervous to try this when she was younger, but now I feel it is a safe option for us. The only thing I worry about is my occasional insomnia. As is it now, she goes to sleep on her own. Any opinions on whether occasional co-sleeping would escalate (to being an every-time thing), and how quickly? Does anyone co-sleep, but not necessarily go to sleep at the same time as their child?

  • Can you give a one year old soy milk?

I know usually you give a one year old whole milk, but we have a lot of left over formula from WIC and I don't want it to go to waste, so I was thinking of giving her the formula and some soy milk (since it doesn't go bad as quickly as regular whole milk). I will ask my doctor at her apointment on the 13th, but do you think that is nutritionally sound? What if I was just giving the soy milk and no formula? What if just the formula?

  • Is it possible to give the flu shot wrong?

My sister wants to give me the flu shot, but I'm nervous about it. She's a medical assistant and gives other people flu shots all the time, but I just want to make sure, is there any way to give it wrong? She said she can bring the shot home and give it to me, is there anything I should worry about?

  • Anyone have bumps on their upper arm? Or know what this is?

I have had bumps in my outer upper arms since I was about 10. I am now 23 and they look worse than I remember. They don't really look like pimples, they're smaller and harder, but I tried using an acne wash, and it looked noticeably better almost immediately. Since then, the acne wash doesn't seem to help.

Does anyone know what this is or how to get rid of it?

    Thanks for the help!

  • Is it possible to overchill cookie dough?

I am working on a cookie recipe for a cookie exchange tomorrow (curse my SIL!.. haha) and it says to chill the dough for an 1 1/2, and chill the filling for 2 hours. If I chill them over night, will it mess up the recipe, or is it more like 'chill at least..'

Novice baker needs a little help!

Here's the recipe if that helps: http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Polis...

  • Where is a good place to buy baby shoes?

I am happy to look online or in person. They are for my 11 month old daughter, and she is walking. I live in Los Angeles, CA, USA. I am looking for something quality but not expensive ($50 at the most).
