What happens if you no longer qualify for Medi-Cal?

We were finally approved for Medi-Cal, and I cancelled my insurance and my daughter's insurance (that whole process took 2 months, and my daughter still isn't set up on a real plan). I just received a Quarterly Report in the mail and they want me to report all income for February. My tax return was high (which I'm hoping they don't count against me?).. and our income was a little higher than expected (we receive GI Bill benefits, and they vary and are hard to guess ahead of time, and only last for one more month), but I think still under the limit. I'm expecting a baby in about 3 weeks, and now I'm worried my Medi-Cal will be cut off before I have a chance to get my old insurance back, that wouldn't happen, would it? When you're no longer eligible for Medi-Cal do they cut off your benefits immediately, or give you a little time to get on to a different plan? This is all so nerve racking! I just want to make sure my birth and my daughter's health are covered! I'm almost 100% sure I'm still under the limit, especially since I'm pregnant, but I don't feel secure in this at all. Can someone reassure me?

Update:

The way GI Bill benefits work, they only pay while you are in school. So if you have a gap in between semesters in the winter or summer, they don't pay anything. We were able to afford individual insurance for myself and my daughter, but my husband's winter break was two months long, two months without an income makes you're budget tight. He is back in school now, but his benefits expire on April 25th, and since the monthly benefit is actually lower than the cut off for Medi-Cal anyway, it would be better for us to stay on Medi-Cal through this. Plus, even though we may be able to afford my monthly premium for a couple months you can't flip back and forth. It takes months to get it all set up, and on top of that, without Medi-Cal, there are additional fees to having a baby besides the monthly premium, like a couple thousand dollars in hospital bills, which we can not afford. It's frustrating and confusing trying to navigate all this, but I'm not trying to suckle

If you are a veteran, you can go to any VA facility for free. Otherwise you can purchase health insurance. I recommend Kaiser.

You can have your child covered with Healthy Families if your income qualifies.

If you are notified that you are not covered by Medi-Cal it is effective the first of the following month.

Why were you trying to get on Medi-Cal if you could afford to have health insurance with someone else?
