Would platys or zebra danios get along with a male betta?

I already have two long finned zebra danios, and am hoping to add a few platys later on, but would also love the addition of a male betta, would these all get along well? i have seen vids on youtube with bettas in community tanks with guppies and gauramis and neon tetras, but am curious if the platys and danios would get along with the betta fine.

The only companions I have for my male bettas are danios and platys and they do great together. The zebras and platys swim, eat and sleep around each other just fine and nobody bothers the bettas. In fact, the bettas seemed to cheer up when they got buddies. I don't know about other combinations but here's a compatibility list:

Use the floating bag method for a smooth introduction of new arrivals:

Some bettas are more aggressive than others, so keep an eye on everyone for the first day or so.

I see a problem with only having 2 danios. In pairs they become fin nippers and the long flowing fins of a betta would be hard to resist. The betta will be picked on by the danios. You really need a minimum of 5 zebra danios.

Other than the danios, the only other issue would be if you had a male guppy. This could trigger aggression in the betta with the guppy's long fins. He will see it as another betta and will fight the guppy.

How big is your tank? In a big enough tank it should work, but the danios may be too busy for the bettas liking. Also without a proper school of danios (atleast 6) they may nip your betta's fins. Platys should be fine though.

that would desire to in all probability be your decrease. i'm not sure how massive Bettas advance. in the event that they're like minnows that are small, perhaps 3. yet i don't understand what 5 gallons is in litres. I genuinely have a 15L tank that i don't use anymore and that i exchange into instructed no extra desirable than 3 white cloud mountain minnows. additionally, i'm examining which you won't be in a position to maintain any fish with male bettas, as they'll attack them. which you will desire to be caught with male bettas basically. if to procure women then they might breed and a 5 gallon tank would be too small to reproduce them in i think of.

more then likely no, betas don't do well with filter flow anyway they like slow moving water. Its not unheard of that a beta gets along, but its also not that common. A while back the pet store I worked with told us to put a beta in all the middle tanks to display them. They either died or started killing fish so we had to stop. we were happy for it.

No, if you want tank mate(s) for your betta try

    - some sort of snail

    - cory catfish

    - tetras

    - ghost shrimp

  • the betta will nip the other fishes fins.
