Bleeding after giving birth?

How much do you really bleed? Will there be a lot of leakage and how long after birth do you bleed?

I have heard that you bleed lots and can bleed for 4 weeks. Is this correct?

It varies from woman to woman. Most women bleed for around 4-6 weeks. In the beginning it is quite heavy usually for the first 3 days or so, but then it eases off and is just like a heavy period for another week or two. Eventually it eases off to a light bleed and tails off after 4 weeks or so.

The bleeding is very bad for the first couple of weeks, I am still bleeding nearly 7 weeks after giving birth. Get the biggest maternity pads you can buy, I made the mistake of buying light flow ones and the blood leaked through my jeans coming home from the hospital.

I don't know about bleeding lots, it all depends on how your labour went. I mean if you had a c-section you can bleed for a while after, but it's the same if you gave birth naturally too. This is something you'll have to wait and see about after you've experienced it for yourself as every womans body reacts differently.

They told me that I would bleed for about 4 to 6 weeks after I had my daughter, and for me to monitor the bleeding, and not to have sex during that time, while your body is healing.

So it is best to follow your doctor's instructions after giving birth so you and your body can heal properly♥
