If you know about marijuana please answer?
My friend is going into the hospital this week for getting her wisdom teeth pulled.
She also smokes weed a lot.
I have heard recently that anesthesia reacts really bad with marijuana, and can sometimes
result in fatality. This really freaks me out because my friend doesnt think its true.
Please help answer with anything you know, thank you in advance.

this should be in the health category im sure you'd get a better answer
ive never heard that but it could. especially because some properties in each mixing can make weird reactions.
for example i take seroquel for anxiety and a guy tried to drug me with valium or vicodin i cant remember. anyways it was supposed to knock me out for 3 hours instead it made me hallucinate and it head the same affects of lsd which is really dangerous.

No, a little residual THC in her system will have no effect on the anesthesia. It's just not a problem.
I have always been very honest with doctors about my pot use. When they ask what prescription drugs I'm on, and how often I drink, I always mention that I smoke pot once in a while. I have never had a doctor tell me I shouldn't smoke pot (they DO tell tobacco smokers that they should quit, and even offer medical assistance!)
I had a plastic surgery years ago after a motorcycle accident. I was just a teenager at the time, living at home with my parents. After the surgery I got some Vicodin, but I never took any because I didn't have that much pain. On a follow-up visit, the Dr. asked me if the Vicodin helped at all or did I need something stronger? I said I never took it because the pain wasn't that bad. He asked me what I did for the pain and I said I smoked pot. He didn't say anything about this, so I asked him 'Is it okay to smoke pot for post-op pain?' He said 'I'm in favor of anything that helps with pain.'
I have had 3 or 4 surgeries with general anesthetic. They always interview you to see what drugs you might be on. They ask about alcohol, prescription drugs, illegal drugs. I always tell them I smoke pot, and I've never been told it has any effect.
So don't worry about it, she'll be fine.

I'm not sure about the reaction marijuana may have with anesthesia but regardless, your friend will have an open wound and I advise her not to expose it to marijuana.
Although marijuana is different than tobacco, I know that smoking marijuana can still introduce carcinogens to your lungs. Personally, I wouldn't want to have smoke circulating around a wound that's already susceptible to infections from bacterias that can be found in the mouth.
then again, if they do get an infection you get to say "i told you so"

Ummm... Drugs 'r bayud, mmkay? Use anything regularly and you are subject to the ill effects. In the case of Mary Jo Wanna, that means you are slow, sleep poorly, have disorganized thoughts, and generally fragile mental health and ability. Claiming anything else means you're high, and not thinking clearly! Breathing smoke is bad for your lungs (duh). Even burnt eucalyptus is bad for the lungs, though the vapor clears them. On the pro's side. Getting high on weekends probably isn't any worse than a 12-pack over the same weekend. You just can't live on the stuff. My favorite slippery slope is when the benefits of 'hemp' are used to promote legalization of marijuana, as if the plant used for textile production is the same one you smoke to get high... they aren't! Besides, there are far more and better materials for producing the same textile applications, like muslin, silk, and nylon. Don't even get me started on absinthe. That's even worse as far as the extent of popularized disinformation goes. My point is, if you wanna get high, be a freakin adult and just get high. Don't try to rationalize it by any half-baked (no pun intended) logic to make you feel better about your health, green-leanings, junk behavioral studies, or spiritual mumbo jumbo. That isn't any different than a drunk saying, 'well, at least booze is legal.' Take responsibility for your vices, and manage them responsibly. Sure, pot isn't legal, so just do it in your home. It's not like you can walk down the street drinking Wild Turkey and not expect to get picked up. Trying to justify your vices just means you don't have them in hand. Get over it.

I dont think she has anything to worry about. Make sure she does not smoke before the surgery

I have never heard of that but the doctor or anesthesiologist will most like talk to you if it is an issue , if still worried mention it to the doctor, it will be confidential.

Your friend should be honest with her oral surgeon about her pot use.
That said, lots of people smoke pot and are put under anesthesia every day. I wouldn't worry too much.

No, usually the marijuana prevents the anasthetic from working..Please make sure you tell the doctor because it is known to have fatal effects.

As long as she's not baked when she goes in it should be fine. Just tell her not to smoke the day of.

talk to the doctor about it, doctor's actually really don't care, they'll ***** more about cigarettes than pot.
