What pills would be prescribed?
If you received a graze gunshot wound to the thigh and lost a good bit of blood, what medicine would the doctor most probably prescribe? I know they would give you something for pain, but wouldn't they also give you something for preventing infection? I'm writing a story and would like to know. Thank you :)

Probably not. Cleaning the wound and debriding any non-viable tissue is the way to go to prevent infection. Some doctors might prescribe prophylactic antibiotics, but most wouldn't unless there were some unusual circumstances. Some of the members of the knife and gun club who frequent our ER's aren't particularly good at cleansing themselves, wounds or other parts, and yet they have a pretty low infection rate. Also, you'd be surprised how little blood people lose. Writers always make blood loss more severe than it is in real life, so I'd suggest you rein yourself in on that point.
