Why are Obama and congressional democrats so opposed to starting from scratch with a healthcare bill?

After all, wasn't Obama going to bring us all together in peaceful bipartisanship as promised? As also promised by Pelosi?

Update:

Wake up and Stand up....that is where you are wrong. Most of the debating went on when dems had the majority in congress. During this time, the repubs input was little more than ignored. Now that they lost the majority, they are executing back door deals to ram this bill down our throats.

They've already made deals with all the lobbyists from the healthcare industry. Starting over would just mean they have to make those deals all over again.

Healthcare reform just needs to be scrapped all together.

it would take too much time, they need to rush this horrible bill before Easter break, if they don't get it done before Easter break those who might vote for it will have the chance to go home and hear it from the people who they are supposed to be representing, plus all they will have to give even more handouts to the lobbyist behind the bill

Source(s): at the rate that Congress is turning against this bill it must be forced on the people soon or there will only be 3 people left in favor of forcing the people to buy health insurance or pay a fine and possibly do jail time

Because every day it isn't in effect, more people lose coverage because they need medical treatment, more people lose their homes, more people needlessly suffer and die.

Because the wing-nuts have already wasted an entire YEAR on soething that should have been finished months ago.

Because they have a huge stack of other things they need to get on with.

Because the wing-nuts have proven beyond doubt that they will continue to refuse to be reasonable.

Uh, the wing-nust refused to work with Dems, who constantly tried to work with them, and it's the DEMS fault?

So the spouse who refuses couple's counseling isn't to blame when the marriage fails, but the spouse who WANTED to save it is.

Wing-nuts: hard to see how completely brainless people nevertheless manage to use computers.

I know it breaks the heart of every wing-nut when suffering and death are prevented, but you'll just have to suck it up.

There are two bills that have been passed and written.

There is no need to write a third. All members of Congress had a chance to weigh in.

They would rather pass a crap bill than admit this one is flawed .It's going to be a pleasure to vote them out in November.

We tried bipartisanship with the obstructionists but Obama is not their father figure that knows best that they cling to.

It would allow Republicans to hem and haw for more than a year more. Republicans have always proved that they are 100% against healthcare reform. Any positive light from them has always proved to be brief and false.

-because starting from scratch won't shovel more of our earnings into the pockets of insurance companies.

It would mean Obama would have to admit after his first year in office he doesn;t have (( bleep) to show for it.
