do i get a refund if i paid for 6 months of insurance, but only had it a month?
i bought car insurance and paid in full for the six months. i've only had it 3 weeks and my car died so i canceled. they didn't tell me if i was getting a prorated refund or not. how do i know?

You'll have to ask. In most states, you don't get a pro rata refund for cancelling your insurance - you get a short rate refund, and the policy ALSO might be subject to a cancellation fee.
You should get SOME money back, though.

You'll be entitled to a refund, but the amount depends on the insurance company There are pro rated refunds and short rated refunds. You should call the agent/company, they should be able to tell you how much to expect back and when to expect it.
