what is the value of used items?

I have a household of stuff, crafts, plants, furniture that I need to sell.I wonder if there is a rule that says that, you start with one half of what you paid for it new as a starting price? Or is there a better way of pricing my stuff?

I usually look on Ebay or Craigslist & try to find comparable items & price them accordingly. The way you sell them is your choice. I think it would depend on what type of time restrictions you're under. If you have the time you might think about trying Craigslist (since it's free) or Ebay. Another thought is to offer items of little value as free items or donate to your local recycling center. I know that I have found several useful items at our recycling center. Good luck & make it fun!

In the U.S., I think the best thing to do is to turn your things over to people who come in and do an estate sale. They are old hands at it and they have a better idea of what things will bring. They will probably work on commission and you just decide when you want them to hold the sale. Go out of town for a weekend and when you come back it will be over. Be sure to ask for recommendations from friends. If you do this yourself, no amount of money will compensate for the stress you will go through.

Where will you sell things like this?? Around here we have auction houses that deal solely with estate items, second hand everything. You just box it up and take it to be auctioned off to the highest bidder. You wouldn't need to price anything - of course everything sells to the highest bidder. You take your chances this way, but you wouldn't need to worry about what do to with items no one is interested in buying. Try it.
