    You don't need a Zip program. If you have XP, Vista or W7 you have a zip extractor program built into the OS.

    Just right click on the zip file and select Open and it will extract all the files for you.

    Step 1: Download a compression tool such as WinZIP, Izarc, 7-zip, WinRAR. Install it on your PC. Step 2: The installation -should- automatically associate itself with all compressed archives. If it doesn't, then right click on a file with a ZIP extension, select Open with... In the popup that appears, scroll down until you find the program you just installed, click on it, then make sure the check box under the list is checked, then click on OK.

    Windows XP, Vista, 7 can usually open them natively ("out of the box").

    If you're absolutely sure Windows won't open them, I suggest you download a program called 7-zip. It's free and will open them for you without a hitch.

    Think of zip files as a container used to store other files within. To "zip", or compress them means to gather files and create a zip file with them. To extract them means to take the files out of the container for your viewing.

    If you right-click it you should have an "Extract all .." option. That unzips it.

    If it's in a RAR format rather than ZIP then use the free 7-Zip

    "zip" files have been compressed to make them smaller, so you have to unzip them to use them.

    Go here;

    http://www.7-zip.org/

    and download and install the "exe" under:

    Download 7-Zip 4.65 (2009-02-03) for Windows

    After you've installed it, when you click on a zip file it will unpack it for you.
